I took my mother's ashes to her already purchased headstone for burial at St. Anthonys Cemetery managed by St. Paul. I met the grounds keeper there with his workers. A worker and I tried to fit her vase into the required small cheap plastic vault that I was paying for. Once we realized it would not fit, another worker tried to pull her ashes out of her vase with such force over and over again, I was convinced her bag would tear open. I pleaded with him to stop and said please just break my mother's vase to get her ashes out.
They got some pliers and broke the vase, shattering pieces into the plastic vault. No one bothered to clean out the broken vase pieces so I cleaned them out and said to them, "She may be just ashes and she may be dead, but I want some dignity for her". I then proceeded to put my mother's ashes into this flimsy plastic vault and walked away as they started covering her remains, completely traumatized from the whole experience.
The burial plot was maybe 3ftx2ft and St. Paul charged me $595 for the hole and the shotty plastic vault. Never, ever would I recommend this place or this institution to do...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent to mass here on our way through Louisville. The people seemed very friendly, and welcoming! But, there were a couple of things that really disappointed us. I guess weāre used to the Eucharist being the focus and climax of the mass. While the music director and his group were very talented, we personally felt the music flowed against the grain of the Holy Spirit rather than with it, making it seem more like a concert venue rather than an aid to draw people into prayer. Also, the giant screens right behind the alter were a distraction. While the people were nice and very comfortable with each other, I did not feel the format fostered community participation or reverence, especially right before, during and after receiving the body of Christ. All parishes have strengths and weaknesses and I mean no disrespectā¦.just thought it might be enlightening to hear reflections from a visitor. God bless your parish. Leslie Speirs,...
