We (4 adults) saw the Boston Pops and the Metropolitan Chorale at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium [LMA] on the 15th of Dec. 2024. Overall the experience was great. The LMA (2, 800 seats) looked like a nice well kept place. Parking closest to the LMA fills up fast so get there early (~30min) but there's additional parking lots or garages further away from the LMA. Check out the LMA website for more info. Most seats are decent spots except the far left & right corners. Seats are exceedingly small and cramped w/ no leg room (I'm 5'10"). Ladies, the bathroom is small w/ only 4 stalls so, if you don't want to stand in line for several minutes go before you get there. If you go during the intermission you may end up returning to your seat late. The sound in the LMA was good, not echoey. The Boston Pops put on a great show of familier Christmas classics, they even added in some of their own personal touch to the songs, some humor. The conductor presented some short story tales before some songs such as explaining the origin of some of the classical music they played. The Metropolitan Chorale (choir) were fantastic! The food & drink pricing is about what you would expect (overpriced). $4 for diet coke, $5 for a small pretzel. Getting out of the LMA wasn't a problem however, there was no police presence anywhere. If they were there I didn't see them. There wasn't even a police officer at the street crossing on the way to the parking lot so watch yourself and the little ones when crossing the street. We'll, I think that about covers the majority of our experience while attending the Boston Pops at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium. Overall, a...
Read moreWorst venue I have ever been too! Just spent more time waiting in the cold than at the actual concert. They have 3 entrance doors but didn't allow people through the other 2 doors until 1hr after the concert started. They didn't state that you aren't allowed to even have vapes on you. So they offered me a choice to either throw away my $120 vape or go put it in my car and wait another hour in line. Cop suggested I go stash in the bushes like it was a crackpipe! All staff had attitudes towards anyone that came in through the doors. Than because of time constraints Kodak only did a 40min set! Was supposed to start at 8pm and he didn't start until 9:20pm! He couldn't even start the show because everyone was outside! If I would have known this stuff I would have never gone...
Read more(Note - this review does not include the house staff, as they were lovely, nor is this a review of the show.) tl:dr We were tricked into buying crap seats. I've been to LMA several times. All experiences were great except for yesterday's show (Pretty Woman). For some reason, the auditorium had extra folding chairs added behind the permanent parquet seating and it was impossible to see the stage as the floor was not at the same stadium seating pitch. At intermission we (and most people in the same situation) moved to balcony seating for the remainder of the show. But what a racket! Charging for parquet seating and NOT disclosing the crap seats we were buying. If we had known, we would have purchased lower priced balcony tickets...
