Too bad there isn’t a 0 stars option… I had to contact the the Better Business Bureau and the Health Department.. I had made a reservation for a room on a friday around 1pm. The place looked very nice from the website and it was cheap with a beachfront view. I was told after I put down an authorization that it was already passed cancellation time. We got there around 10:50pm and thank god for that or else we would’ve had gone to the hotel next door to receive our key. The ladies were nice and welcoming. Anyways we got our key and went up to our room. We had gotten a room with a lake view that had two full size beds in it. There was a utility closet right next to our room that had the door wide open and it was super messy and disgusting in there. When we walked into our room we were hit with the smell of must and just plain out nastiness. The walls seemed newly renovated but the decor was still dated back to the 1980s. The carpet did not seemed to be cleaned and there was a stain on the bathroom floor as well as the sheets. The smoke detector would beep every so often as well. As any normal person would do, we lifted up the sheets on both beds to check for bed bugs. The first bed seemed fine but when we checked the second bed there was clearly a bug on it (picture below). We wouldn’t even set our stuff down on anything. We immediately walked out of that room because we decided to not stay there. We sat in the car for about an hour when we finally found a hotel that was wayyyy nicer. We went back the next morning to fairview to explain the situation and showed them the picture of the bed bug and explained that it smelt bad and there was stains on the sheets. They told me they had to contact their management team and had to have people come and inspect the room and they would give me a call later. I waited around all day for a call and never got one so I called them. They told me they couldn’t give me a refund as the team inspected the room and found nothing, even though i had shown them the picture of the bug. I tried calling corporate like they told me to do and they didn’t answer. At this point I still didn’t get my refund. I had to call my card company and explained the situation and luckily they are willing to dispute my charge because I paid for a service I didn’t get. DO NOT STAY HERE! It’s much more worth it to spend more money on a nicer hotel. This place is a dump and i’m surprised they haven’t shut down yet, especially with the reviews they have gotten. Don’t believe when they say it’s renovated either, all they did was throw new wood on the walls. Please please please take your...
Read moreJust checked out of the Fairview Beachfront Inn. We were a group of 20 and stayed 4 nights. To say that all 20 of us were disappointed, is an understatement. This "Inn" was absolutely filthy. The lobby doors are crusted with cobwebs, flies, and dirt. Our rooms were even worse. The bathroom was disgusting. There were 8-10 flies stuck to the bathroom vanity, the tub was not clean, and there was garbage under the sink from the previous guests. We had to call the front desk twice (on our cells because the room phone was broken) to ask for the maid service to actually CLEAN the bathroom. The first day, the towels were replenished and the garbage was taken, but nothing was wiped down or cleaned after having called and specifically asking for our room to be cleaned. The walls of the room were splattered with some type of dirt and there were cobwebs in the corners of the ceiling. The door to the bathroom was covered with spots of brown liquid. Only one lamp in our room functioned and the curtains were ripped and gross. The breakfast was in the hotel next door and aside from the waffles, it was unimpressive. The same rubbery sausage, biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs was served every morning. The first floor rooms smelled of damp, wet mold - it was extremely humid. The "suite" part of group stayed in, went a whole day without any maid service. No beds made, no garbage taken. Not to mention the humidifier's bucket kept flashing red indicating it was full- needless to say, it was never emptied. The pool and pool room was filthy and the "water park" wasn't even functioning. We saw the same two people "cleaning" every room of the Inn in all of our five day stay. The staff was very unpleasant. At check out, the woman at the front desk seemed annoyed and spoke with an attitude when we asked to make sure our rate was discounted because of all the mistakes made with our reservation. We were told one price at booking and then charged more at check in. We had also asked for several rooms on the ground floor for easy accessibility, and were given rooms on the 4th floor. The one redeeming star that I was forced to give this Inn was the beach view. The view of the lake was beautiful. But the plastic beach chairs, random picnic table, garbage cans, and scattered lounge chairs were all in disarray. When they combed the beach in the morning, they couldn't even pick up the furniture and place it back neatly. The sand was only combed around the cheap and badly arranged beach furniture. AVOID THIS HOTEL/INN. I will never...
Read moreThe absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced, management included! I would never consider this place again. To begin I made a reservation about 2 month in advance to ensure that we would have a place to stay. I reserved one of the only 2 suites among the mackinaw hotels that was able to fit our large party of 11. After reserving i received my confirmation email with the dates, prices per night and noting the number of people in our party! We left around 5 am and had a full itinerary of things we planned on doing once we go there to make the most of our visit. We were about an hour away from the hotel when the Fairview hotel called me and informed me that they did not have a room for us that night. After arguing and asking "what the point of making a reservation 2 months in advance was?' they replied that is more like an order for a room if its not rented to anyone else first....NEVER have I ever in all the years of reserving hotels have I heard something so ridiculous. Basically they make multiple reservations and pretty much draw straws to see who gets the room. On top of that they didnt even offer to make it right and wanted me to pay more than double what my entire 3 night stay was going to cost to rent 3 rooms for that one night and then be moved to the suite the next night. There were multiple problems with this and they never offered any sympathy or help. Problem #1 was they never offered a discount or match to the rate I was suppose to be originally be paying. Problem #2 We had Ferry tickets to use the next morning and being a Sunday planned to take the earliest ferry over and the latest back to enjoy the island all day. So if we had to stay in other rooms the first night and move to the suite the next night we would have to pack 11 peoples luggage up before getting on the ferry, store it somewhere and then worry about getting it all back into a different room that night late, NOT ACCEPTABLE in my opinion. So when we got up there I searched the only other hotel that would fit us into one suite and called them. They were apologetic for the other hotels lack of help and even price matched the rates I was suppose to be paying which was an almost $300 discount to their normal rates for the suite. The manager of the new hotel called Fairview and made sure we wouldn't be charged anything over there, got us into a suite for both night and we extremely helpful. Fairview would receive no stars from me if that was an...
