If I could give it 0 stars I would! Let me start off by saying from the start it was horrible however I gave it the benefit of the doubt and knowing things happen in a customer service environment but this lady Karen gotta go! From the beginning we wanted to try this place the last few times we have been in the area but was busy and over an hour wait, today it wasn't so my bf and I deciced to go! We proceeded to sit down waiting a total of 10 min for someone to even approach are table and when she did she asked what we wanted to drink? I told her what i wanted and asked if she had french vanilla for coffee she said no, instead My bf change his mind from coffee and wanted OJ she proceeded to roll her eyes and huff and puff. After that karen came back and seen I had that buy one get one special ripped it outta my hand and took are order, I asked for extra loose eggs and crispy bacon. We waited for our food which of course was fine but then my bf looking across the room saw she was "day drinking". She proceeded to complain to other staff that didn't care to much about her working 10.5 hours today. Karen sat down until are food came up which was fine because I'm sure she has a long day ahead and at this point I feel bad for her but come on. Our food came out (sunrise plate) and my eggs over done, and bacon undone...more like raw. While my bf was loving his FOOD he asked how mine was because he already knew I wasn't happy however I didn't wanna complain due to my experience already and he was enjoying his and didn't wanna bother him while he was loving HIS FOOD. Well it get worst shortly after the food arrives she leaves the bill while not even asking how the good is stating she gotta leave for other work. We said okay, trying to be nice and understanding, she walks by 3 more times within 5 mintues since then,(however not to even ask how the food was but for us to pay the bill) then she came up the 4th time to ask if we could pay are bill while my bf was enjoying his meal and he pushes his plate forward and grabs his wallet then after finally ask how food was, I just was in aww... He ended up paying and tipping her over 30% to get her to leave the table. At This point his meal and appetite was ruined I only ate my hashbrowns. I enjoyed my coffee waiting 15 min after to leave and seen she was still there, how rude! We will NEVER COME to this place again and don't suggest this place to anyone! She ruining this restaurant and shouldn't be working there. If I ran this restaurant all this would be uncalled for! Glad I manage else where and customer service is what...
Read moreDO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT!! I am a Certified Food Service Director so I have definitely have knowledge to make this review.
For 18$ per plate for breakfast shame on this restaurant for the way we were treated! This is what we ordered - scrambled egg, bacon, hash-browns and wheat toast. This is what I got - artificial liquid eggs, paper thin bacon with absolutely no flavor, extremely unhealthy greasy artificial potatoes, wheat toast with not butter but some kind of grease on it.
We took one bite of each thing and confirmed that neither one of us liked this breakfast at all.
We are 62 years old so we've been eating breakfast for a while and is was not breakfast.
So the server took our full plates back I'm not sure if he showed the manager or anything, but the server and bar bill and it was at full price and I asked the server, Why do I have to pay for something I didn't eat that wasn't good and he said I'll have to ask my manager.
This person walked over. I'll describe him so it's accurate for management. He did not introduce himself . He just started talking/ it was a man with a bald head, glasses, braces on his teeth wearing jeans and a t-shirt, no uniform.
As we began to explain why we didn't like our meal each item individually to him... he had something to say about each item instead of listening He was very defensive, rude unprofessional, and this was the poorest service I've ever seen in a food service establishment for a manager!!
He argued with my husband then when my husband asked why do we have to go through all of this? He just started putting his hands in my husband's face and argument and raising his voice upsetting other customers in the restaurant. Then he grabbed the bill and walked away. I'm not sure what he said because he was walking away when he said it. So we went up to the hostess, who was very nice and really cared and understood. Completely kudos to her!! and then we hear from the hostess stand the manager calling my husband like a dog to get over here. My husband had to aso, are you talking to me and then he adjusted the bill by a percentage not removing our horrible food! that we did not like so basically we were gonna pay $38 for coffee. My husband paid a full bill. It wasn't about getting things cheap. It was about service, quality, and the way we were treated. Please do not waste your time or money going to this place. I plan on finding out who the owner is and if he's the owner, I'm going...
Read moreI would like to say first up that we came in about 40 minutes before closing time. I don't know if this impacted our experience. We ended up leaving 10 minutes after closing.
As The Lighthouse was fairly empty when we walked in, we were seated immediately and service was quick to respond. Our wait person, while being very pleasant and friendly, was perhaps distracted due to the lateness of the hour, busy doing pre-closing chores--in any case, there were forgotten items, mix-ups on drinks, etc.
We ordered the crab cakes appetizer; while they were tasty enough, they were simply plopped on a small plate without any garnish or anything else to distract from the small size of the serving, which I'm guessing was about half-dollar sized. The aioli served with the cakes was in a small dip bowl on the side. For $11, I was rather dismayed.
The meal in general didn't have much going for it in the looks department, considering how much we paid to eat there.
The bread served wasn't anything remarkable; two days later I don't recall what it was like. I wasn't impressed at the time, though.
We ordered the pork; while the portion size was good, it was tough and dry. As a matter of fact, neither one of us could finish our meat, and we decided to have it boxed to go. We ended up throwing it out the next morning, as it smelled off. I will say that at the time, it didn't taste off, and I've never known meat to go bad overnight when refrigerated at lower than 40 degrees, so I don't know what that was all about.
It also would have been nice if the menu had mentioned that the vegetable dish being served was spaghetti squash; while it didn't taste bad, I'm not a big fan of that kind of squash and would have liked to have known this in advance so I could order something else. I ate it, but only because it was late, we hadn't eaten all day, and I was sure they wanted to close soon.
Another issue I had was that oddly, the cola tasted terrible. I don't know if it was water they used for carbonation, or if their syrup-to-carbonation ratio was off or what. I am pretty easy going regarding colas, but I couldn't finish it.
At the price we paid for that meal, we were absolutely underwhelmed as to the quality.
To reiterate, our server was friendly and funny, which is the only reason I have given this restaurant 3 stars instead of 2 (or more accurately, 1 1/2) She was the only bright spot in our dining experience at The Lighthouse. We won't...
