Tiger Lily Boutique — Attraction in Madison

The East Towne store was super busy yesterday; many young ladies looking for homecoming dresses with their boyfriends or moms. I was looking for something less traditional and a little more trendy than the typical mother of the bride/groom dress. Obviously, most of what they have is truly what you’d expect for high school homecoming styles but, I was able to find a stylish & classy dress, fit for a 50 year mom of the groom. They have dresses for thin, medium, large, extra large and even extra extra large - I’d say at least up to 20-22. I’ve always had a challenge finding an elegant dress that DOESN’T resemble window shades and, due to top size needing to be bigger than waist/hip. I’m definitely no skinny-mini so that was a happy surprise :) The staff were all attending to someone the whole time I was there looking but, they still acknowledged me, saying “hello” and were very friendly. The only issue I have is, when I got the dress home and hung it up, I noticed the plastic theft device wasn’t removed so I need to go back today so they can take it off. Otherwise, I have no complaints. The store was clean and well-lit. Displays and clothing racks are nicely configured. As busy as they were, I didn’t have troubles with tangled garments from people just shoving things wherever so, they’re very attentive to making sure things look nice. It may ‘look’ like a store for the younger girls but, while much of it is, they have beautiful styles. And - don’t count them out even if you’re a 50 year old looking for a fun, classy dress. At least give them a walk through. They might have something...

So, the staff were super friendly and helpful, and excited for/with my daughter when we found the dress!! HOWEVER after purchasing it, we took it home, tried on with the shoes and didn't need any alterations which was fantastic! So I took it out last night to steam it before prom today, to find that the bottom of the dress wasn't even hemmed!! I paid over $200 for a dress that wasn't even finished!! Didn't even try to call them since they don't do any exchanges or refunds. Very disappointed.

EDIT! I called the manager of the location after the owners response, and he informed me that even though I found out the dress wasn't hemmed until Friday after they closed, they wanted me to wait until the next day (day of Prom!) to call them to make them fix it, even though we had appointments all day for hair/nails/makeup and I would not have had the time to take it to them to be fixed, instead of me finishing the dress myself the night before. I felt very disrespected by the manager in this matter. They offered no compensation for my time or materials I needed to purchase to finished the dress, or even just for a discount for receiving an unfinished product, just blame that I should have waited until middle of the day on the day of Prom to try and let them fix it.

I will say though, that I have dealt with this staff previously for my older daughters prom dress and that was a good interaction, however I'll now NOT be returning to this store for future events after this experience, nor will I be recommending them any longer to family...

I would give zero stars if that were an option. The staff dishonestly conveyed the return policy when making a purchase that I was not sure I would want to keep. Turns out you can "return" but only for store credit or an exchange of the same item, no refund. It is placed in a sketchy location on the return policy, so much so that when disputing the policy with a staff member she was unable to find it and told me "well, I know it is on the receipt"...which you don't get until after the purchase is made. When making the purchase I also asked the young man working there about the policy and was told you have 30 days to return if tags are still attached and you have the receipt. No where in what he said was anything about only getting store credit or exchanging for the same item, because the purchase would not have been made. When I went in to do the return three days after the purchase because I found a dress I liked better from another store, the woman who took care of the return was so rude and condescending. I would never ever recommend this store, and will be telling everyone I know to avoid it. When purchasing the dress I ended up liking more from a nearby store in the mall, Windsor, the employee checked with me to make sure I knew that the item was non-returnable, in addition to having a tag on the garment that clearly stated this policy. No deception. If you are looking for something I would recommend going next door to Windsor where you can rest assured you won't...
