Despite my loyalty to the Hilton brand and my attempt to redeem Hilton Honors points for a stay at the DoubleTree Hilton East, I encountered a series of frustrating setbacks. It all began when I arrived at the DoubleTree on February 6, hoping to use my accumulated points for an unexpected short stay with my beloved little dog, who was rescheduled for knee surgery the following morning. However, upon checking in, I was informed that I needed to use the Hilton Honors app to book the room in order to redeem my points. Following this guidance, I promptly made the reservation through the app. (And was charged $70 more for a little dog the shared my bed and made no noise or mess). To my dismay, despite having made the reservation through the app, my credit card was still charged for the evening. Concerned about this discrepancy, I reached out to Hilton Honors customer service, who conference-called the front desk to address the issue. It was determined that the stay needed to be updated on their end to reflect the redemption of my points. Regrettably, despite my efforts, several weeks passed without any updates regarding the resolution of this matter. As the unexpected stay coincided with my dog’s rescheduled knee surgery, the financial strain of paying for the accommodation on top of the medical expenses became particularly challenging. In my follow-up emails, I expressed my dissatisfaction with the lack of empathy and understanding exhibited in the responses received. Despite my hopes for a satisfactory resolution, the responses from Ariana fell short of addressing the root of the problem. It felt like my concerns about misinformation and the frustration I experienced were being overlooked. Ultimately, the ordeal left me feeling undervalued and unheard as a customer. The sad undertone resonates as my faithful companion and I endured the hardship of an unexpected night in Madison, with little support or acknowledgment from the Hilton team.

Pretty much a standard hotel. In walking through the front door your first hit by the chlorine smell from the pool. On one side is the pool on the other side is the bar. You get to the front desk straight in front of you and they're nice enough. The bar stays open until 10:00 p.m. so those late night drinkers are going to be disappointed. No valet service or bring in the bags to the room for you. You get to the room and it's a standard hotel room, to thin but the tables, TV, mirrors, are new. You get. I never knew water came in white with a fuzzy head, bring your own water. The rooms are very well insulated and soundproof but the windows are not. The interior rooms face the pool and the reception so all the kids in the pool noise came straight up to us. I don't know what the outside rooms are like but the views are not great and the neighborhood is a little dangerous. The mall is right across the busy road but I would take a car and the Chinese grocery store is right next to the mall. It was close to where we needed to go, about 5 minutes away but Madison traffic is a little difficult. We had to travel at 4:00 p.m. on a Friday so we only skid on the gravel once, spun the tires once, got turned around once, and ran over somebody trying to cross the busy road to get into the hotel only once. it's pretty bad.

From the silent traveler as I've always stated no hotel will be 100% perfect. what will determine a good hotel is a representative of that hotel when matters come before them. This hotel is really good it has a wonderful pool that you can see it also has a sauna which is really nice. There is a lot offered in this hotel more than other hotels. But again really nice to relax and enjoy your stay in the area. Very close to restaurants in walking distance so you don't have to go far. You could order but again very close and walking distance. The room really nice as usual great bed to sleep in you will definitely get a good night rest. Internet connection also really good. This is my second time staying in there and I must say it gets better each time customer service was really great. The gym very nice to work out in and the one thing that I found at the hotel this time that wasn't there last time it's mouthwash which is really nice. I updated the photos so you can see that they do have mouthwash as well. And I didn't get my cookie apparently something was wrong with the oven.

We had stayed there before and it was a pleasant experience....not so much this time. When we arrived we noticed an unpleasant odor in the room. However, we were heading out to dinner so didn't really pay it much attention. When we got back wife mentioned it still smelled. She said it smelled like gas. I had a sudden onset migraine for no apparent reason and we called it a night. I woke up the next morning and I still had my headache and the room had a really strong odor of gas like there was a gas leak. My wife said she wasn't feeling good so I got dressed and went down stairs to inform the front desk. When I spoke to Jake he didn't seem too concerned about a potential gas leak but said he would sent Maintenance up to check it out. So I went back up stair. My wife went down to get something from Starbucks and when she came back up she said the smell was even worse so she went downstairs to the front desk to speak to Jake when again according to my wife didn't seem too concerned and said they could move us, but we were leaving in a little while so nothing was done. When she got back my son had woken up and he didn't feel well either. So we immediately started to pack up and leave. Maintenance never showed up and it took us about an hour to pack everything as we were flying home that day. When I we left I went back to pay and told Jake that no one ever came up to check. He informed me that they weren't supposed to come to my room they went to check on the odor elsewhere (which lead me to believe they knew about it ahead of me telling them) and said it was coming from another room. He didn't offer me an apology or even a discount for the fact that my family got ill from whatever it was. He attempted to get extra money out of us by screwing up the bill claiming that what I owed them was more then their confirmation email I got when I booked the room. At no point were they concerned or contrite in the fact that my family got sick from whatever was going on. I ended up calling the manager from the parking lot prior to leaving and spoke with him about what went on and his story about what it could be was different from what Jake told us. He didn't seem too concerned either that my family got sick. His response was classic. He would use this as a training tool to better train his front desk staff.....I believe I laughed out loud on the phone. In all I find it kind of ridiculous that some odor caused my family to get ill and when I reported it no one seemed concerned at all it was happening and at no point was anything done about it. Just pay my bill and move along.....I understand things like this happen but the fact that the staff at this hotel seemed to be unphased or concerned at all was probably the most disturbing and disappointing. Their actions guaranteed we won't stay there again...

We booked the DoubleTree Madison East without knowing much about it other than it had good reviews and was a Hilton Hotel, which we definitely like. This was a quick one-night stay to relax before trekking to northern Wisconsin for Christmas. We checked in on the 22nd and were greeted by a delightful front desk staff – warm, friendly and welcoming. ||The front lobby is beautiful, modern and immaculately clean. The pool area was exceptional – large and inviting. There is a little convenience section where you can purchase snacks, drinks and even a few prepared salads. While I didn’t take photos, the double-queen room was clearly upgraded recently and again, very clean and inviting. Our room was on the 6th floor (600) and overlooked the highway but there was no noise coming into the room. The large bathroom had fantastic Crabtree & Evelyn products. No tiny bottles either – full sized bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and bath gel attached to the wall of the glassed-in shower. ||At the last minute, we decided to return to Madison on Christmas Day evening due to some bad weather and wanting to ensure we were able to get on our flight the next day returning home. We were so happy with our DoubleTree experience; we booked it again. As before, the front desk person was cheerful (despite having to work on Christmas evening), friendly and very accommodating when we asked for a late checkout. This time, we had a king room with sofa bed and liked the layout even better than before. If there are just two people traveling, it couldn’t better. Great work desk, the sofa bed was very comfy, and the bath was identical to previously. ||The location is very convenient, and you have every type of food within eyesight and minutes of you including McDonald’s, Chipotle, Chick-Fil-A, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, iHop, Outback, and a host of others. It’s only about 10 minutes from the MSN airport and 15-20 minutes to downtown/University of Wisconsin.||This is our new go-to hotel in Madison, hands-down. We will be back here again and couldn’t recommend it enough. (Kudos to the staff here, they are just phenomenal and such an asset to...
