Unfortunately with amazing potential (a bubble tea and KBBQ experience is new for Madison), it gets bogged down by the level of service. When I was seated (8:15), I had to approach someone outside of my section to order food, as it approached closing (8:45), and I still waited on ordering more, I was asked if I wanted to close out on my first two dishes.
While my hot plate slowly sat there and got charred, everything around me started to get teared down, as masses of waiters and staff walked past me without a second thought.
Unfortunately, the bubble tea quality was also chalky, with poor sugar control (due to premixes), which is typical for cheap fast bubble tea, I wouldnât recommend as a stand-alone spot for bubble tea.
I would try this again in the future when the quality settles after opening, but as it stands I wouldnât recommend this KBBQ/Hotpot spot with Bubble Tea for anyone looking for a good experience.
I recommend to arrive prior to 8PM for optimal experience if youâll want to visit, tear down begins at 8:20PM. 9:00PM last seating is a little deceptive comparative to level of service. âââââââ- Section: A5 on 04/13 What I had: Signature Prime Rib: 6.5/10
Meat was a lot less fatty than expected, didnât think it was actually a prime cut. A little expected for the price point, but still disappointed.
Short Rib 6/10
Decently tender, however butchery could use some work. Silver skin was seen on the cut, and had to use an extra trim.
Pork Cheek 4/10
Deceivingly thick as seen on the menu, the cut is a lot thicker, and the recommended time is inaccurate for the best pork experience for this cut.
Garlic 0/10
Ordered but never received
Onion 0/10
Ordered but never received
Mango Bubble Tea 4/10
Bubbles and toppings were decent, unfortunately no sugar control for the drink and overall quality was chalky, akin to a...
Read moreIt's nice to finally have a Korean BBQ in Madison. However, I believe it could be better, and of course I believe they WILL be better later on in the year(s). I've gone to several Korean BBQ & hot pot places all over the country/state that I've had better than this one.
Hot pot - flavor seemed to be off in my husband and my opinion compared to other hot pot places that we've been to. We tried three different broth and they all basically tasted like basic seasoning like salt, black pepper, a tiny bit of other herbs, and watered down. I personally would not go here for hot pot but we will see if we will give it a chance in the future.
BBQ - it was inconsistent with the flavor because first order was fine but when we ordered the same meat for the second time then it was marinated too much. I would only come here if I'm too lazy to do Korean BBQ at home. Portion size is decent overall.
Service - our waitress was amazing with her positivity, always checking in on us, and friendly. The front people or hosts were not friendly and seemed to be stressed or having a bad day, and just not welcoming.
Drinks - we ordered boba tea and I had never heard of any other boba tea places that said it's a bad idea to add tapioca balls into a shake/blended drink so not sure what's going on with that. I've ordered shakes/blended drinks with tapioca balls from sooo many bubble tea places here in Madison and elsewhere and I just never heard of that before? Yes, some places do know how to make bubble tea shakes/blended with the tapioca balls being soft still while others don't know how, so maybe that's what they're saying?
Environment - it was nice besides the feeling unwelcome at the front entrance. Nice...
Read moreCame here for lunch with my girlfriend. We enjoyed ourselves! We are use to Korean BBQ places that have either online ordering and or a tablet where you can order the food yourself instead of having to wait for your waiter/waitress to check on you but we understand that this place is still new and is working on self ordering to happen. Iâm glad this location offers a grill, I like Hot Pots but I also LOVE grilling my food. So I was glad that this location had the grill option as well. You also get your own bowl for your soup base as well so you wonât have to figure out what soup base to get because you wonât be sharing it with everyone (some places put it in one big pot/bowl making you share the soup base). There were a couple times where the onions we ordered didnât really seem fresh (tasted a little sour and you could tell by the smell before cooking them) but overall the experience was fun and delicious! Canât wait to try this place again! Hopefully self ordering will arrive soon! :)
For those wondering what the pricing is itâs about $21 per person for lunch and about $31 per person for Dinner. Like most Korean BBQs Saturdays and Sundays are all day Dinners. So expect to pay the Dinner pricing if you go there for lunch during those days. Sodas are not free and I mention this because there are some Korean BBQ places that give free soda. If that matters to you at all this location charges for drinks (except water).
Our total was about $55 for lunch (paid $10 extra for both grill and hotpot option. Itâs $5 person to do both) excluding soda and tip (we had water and did cash tip).
Would definitely recommend this place! We enjoyed ourselves and will definitely...
