So, I ordered five tickets through Fandango to see top gun on Father's Day with my kids. When I purchased the tickets I didn't realize that the email I used was incorrect. Needless to say I did not receive my tickets. So I called the theater and talked to a manager named michael. I informed him that I mistakenly used the wrong email but that I had my credit card and ID to show that I was the purchaser and I also knew exactly where my seat would be. He said he was incapable of assuring me that I would get my seats because the purchase was through Fandango. I asked if I could show him which seats I purchased being there were five seats in a row off the aisle it would be quite easy to do. He said that he could not do it because there's no way for him to know that I was the actual purchaser of the seats. I then reminded him that if somebody else purchase the seats they would immediately ask for help because somebody was sitting in their seats. He rebutted that maybe they would be too scared and not want to make a scene and be inconvenienced. I couldn't believe that that was his response. I asked him to remember that it was Father's Day and that there weren't any extra seats so nobody would just take an inconvenience but rather would ask for help. He said he probably wouldn't be able to help me and that I would just be out of luck. Fortunately, I was able to connect with someone from customer service at Fandango and they sent me another copy of my purchase via text on my phone. They also said that the movie theater had the ability to communicate to Fandango as well but this manager named Michael was not willing to exhaust any effort to help me with my situation. I know staffing is tough to come by right now and that maybe he wasn't the theaters first choice but I have no other recourse than to give a low rating because Michael really made my Father's...
Read moreMrs. B and I like to go to this theater because it is the lowest priced first-run theater in our area - and I am a cheapskate. They charge as low as $5 for an early show. Most of the other north and northwest suburban theaters charge more. Mrs. B has an AMC card and we get occasional free admissions to their shows, too.
In addition, they program lots of special events like concerts, operas, sports, etc.; which are only experienced at a handful of theaters.
Like all modern cinemas, the place is sterile-looking and has a lot of different look-alike small rooms (screens) - and one of them is equipped to handle IMAX projection. Unlike the old movie palaces, there is no interesting décor, nor anything aesthetically remarkable about the Showplace.
Stadium seating allows for excellent line-of-sight viewing and the surround sound system is great. Restrooms are clean, personnel are friendly, and the seats are comfortable and able to recline and rock a little. (Drives the old goats - and young whippersnappers - behind me nuts.)
As all theaters nowadays, the concession prices are awful, although free popcorn and soda refills ameliorate the pain a little.
I have experienced several technical glitches at the theater from time to time. They seem to have trouble maintaining a pleasant temperature inside the theater: yesterday, it was about 62 F where we were. In addition, they sometimes turn on the house lights before the feature begins and forget to turn them off. I have also experienced at least one time when the movie volume was set way too low.
Overall, I have no problems with the theater - but I wish somebody could build an old-style multiplex movie palace with ornate or exotic interiors. Each room could be decorated differently. I might pay an extra 25 cents' admission for...
Read moreHas to be the worst AMC I’ve ever been to. I had to tickets to see Spider-Man on 12/19/21. immediately when we walked in, the place looked like a someone grabbed a leaf blower and blew popcorn, paper and cups all over the place! There was more popcorn on the ground than behind the snack stand and please don’t get me started on the restrooms( it looked like the place hasn’t been clean since they opened for the day and I couldn’t believe it). All snacks were completely empty( I couldn’t even get a bottle of water) I do understand the product shortages but whoever does product inventory here needs to do better. Everyone behind the counter seems to be very lost and needed leadership guidance that was not clearly present. I saw the staff scooping popcorn into a cardboard box that was then placed on the ground and then putting into bags for guest( nasty). The worst was when I got to my seats watched the previews for and about 15 minutes and then another group came that had the same seats as me ( system error I’m assuming) one of the staff members came to see what happened which was fine but he wanted us to move to another set for the guest that came 15 minutes after I did. ( I told him to find another way because we’re not moving) then a manager and three other employees came to investigate. The manager asked to see my mobile tickets which was fine but kept asking to see them over and over again. It seems like they were more concerned about the group that came to them about the problem more than the people are ready sitting down( me)This became very annoying and showed the incompetence of the leadership here. Everyone in the theater became annoyed because the movie was about to start and these guys just couldn’t figure it out. I would never ever ever ever come back to this...
