Honestly, my favorite thrift store in this area! Great selection with quick turnover. I find that this location has nicer brands, and better quality than some of the other Salvation Army locations. I also love that they have such a big book section and a decent housewares department. It is clean, well lit and nicely organized by clothing type (it is not organized by size and that is okay by me . . . I always end up digging in all the sizes anyway because some thrifters like to hide their sizes in the wrong section hoping to snag it during Saturday's big sale). Be prepared to dig and you will find some treasure!
I find prices mostly better or comparable to local Goodwills. I have been frequenting this one since they opened, before that I would shop the one at Waukegan and Dempster (the old Frank's nursery building) before they closed and believe me, this is a complete upgrade from that location! Haha.
Keep in mind, some weeks there will be absolutely nothing to be found and some weeks you will hit the jackpot. Be prepared to dig, a little disorganization leaves room for hidden gems so really get in there and look.
The staff is always moving at the this store, trying to keep up with the messes being made of the clothes (especially during their crazy rushes on Saturdays), and during the mad Saturday morning rush at the registers. They do an amazing job of keeping the line moving and I never feel frustrated by the wait when there is one just use that time to glance at the clothing on the discard rack and the boutique area.
Honestly, the only thing I could find to be bummed about is the fact that I miss 69 cent Saturdays! Love the store, the location...
Read moreToday the week of Thanksgiving I went with the kids to this store to look for books and board games. After spending about 35 minutes in the story and checking out with only 4 items: a hola hop, 2 vintage cups, and a plastic shelf, the cashier, a man was so rude and out of control to me. He could not tell me the price of a hola hop (there were tons of them on the floor in the kids dept.) peeled off the stickers on my plastic shelf and two cups saying that someone had switched them. I argued with him and said, go look there are more like those cups on the shelf and he then acused me of changing the prices. In front of my kids. I went and took a foto of the cups that were on the shelf so I can send them to the manager. Then he argued that if cups are a set they need to be taped with the saucer...well guess what...I took a picture of several cup and saucers that only had price on saucers and no tape! The man was completely out of line and should have demonstrated customer service and go look at the hola hops and cups before accusing me of trying to scam ...what for 4 dollars. I have donated lots of expensive items to this store, shopped there before with a nice level of service...but even my 9 year old said to me...mommy what is that mans problem...why is he talking to you like that and removing all the price tags...I have pictures and plan to call the manager tomorrow. Just do not want the man to lose his job...he clearly had anxiety issues..to lash out...
Read moreThe store is clean and everything is in order, but I gave the store a poor rating due to the manager Matthew. My husband asked me to try on a jacket he found for me. We went to the dressing room area and I tried it on (the tag must've fell off at that point). My husband is trying something else on so as I'm standing there waiting for him I notice there was no tag. As a courtesy, not wanting to hold up the line (when we check out). I mention to Matthew that the tag was missing. He immediately takes the jacket, rolls it up and throws it in the basket. He notifies me the jacket can't be sold. I ask if I can bring a similar jacket or...but before I can ask another question he rudely shuts me down. I go back to the dressing room area and tell my husband what happened. He then notifies me he has the tag because it fell off of the jacket. He goes and hands it to Matthew but this guy continues to be rude and refuses it. We couldn't believe how rude he was being considering he's telling everyone to have a blessed day? Really? I was simply trying to be considerate of others, and my husband explained what happened in complete honesty, yet Matthew refused to accept any of it. Let us not forget these items...
