We used to go to this theater regularly before the pandemic closed everything. We decided to see Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings as our first movie post-pandemic now that they are open again. Prices have gone through the roof! A large popcorn costs $10, a 16-ounce bottle of Dasani water costs $5, and nachos with cheese cost $10. Tickets for four adults, one large bucket of popcorn, and two Dasani water cost just over $60. Nachos with cheese, a large soda, and chocolate-covered almonds cost an extra $20. By the way, skip the popcorn. It tastes stale/old.
These prices are what drive people to sneak food into theaters! We were going to stop at the store for some candy, but I told my kids we were going to buy refreshments at the theater since they're probably hurting after being closed due to the pandemic. Well, they get to keep struggling because we won't go to this theater anymore. We just can't afford these prices. It was opening weekend for this film, and there was almost no one in the theater, and this is likely one of the reasons why.
Additionally, this theater is utterly disgusting. The bathrooms aren't cleaned regularly, and the floors are sticky. The trash was overflowing, the drink station was poorly stocked, a large lid for my soda couldn't be found, and popcorn was spilled everywhere.
Two rows back from us in theater 1 (the big screen), someone put their feet on a seat and started rocking it back and forth. It made a squeaking sound that was distracting. They did this periodically throughout the movie, and both my daughter and I were very annoyed by it. Although the person's actions are not the theater's fault, why do they need such noisy seats? A person should be able to switch positions without disturbing everyone in the room.
Sadly, this was our last visit to AMC Manitowoc. Instead, we'll go to Marcus Cinema in Appleton or Get Reel Cinema in Chilton. Marcus Cinema has reclining seats along with a theater experience that makes going to it worth the extra cost, while Get Reel Cinema offers...
Read moreFilthy dirty. I don't go to the theater much because I prefer my home theater and this is exactly why. But my kids really wanted to see "Five Nights at Freddy's" on the opening weekend since this is apparently important to teen girls so I went with them. Haven't been to this theater since it opened. Was very disappointed by the popcorn everywhere, all over the counter, all over the drink area, all over everything. Change was everywhere as well. Very slow service despite what seemed like a manager just standing around behind the counter. Cashier gave us a cup with a very obviously deformed and crushed lip that a lid wouldn't fit on after waiting for 5 minutes for them to bring a new stack of cups out of the back when they forgot about it and I reminded them. The drink area was so sticky that it almost pulled my shoes off my feet. Looked like an employee was beginning to give a halfhearted attempt to clean it though. Saw an employee with her shoes on the serving counter as well. I didn't personally use the restroom, but the wife did and told me they were gross. Actual movie didn't start until 10:30 despite being scheduled to begin at 10:00, 30 minutes of ads. Not sure why anyone pays money for this experience. Won't be back if...
Read moreThis is a great place to catch a movie. The seats are very comfortable; and the sound system is great...albeit maybe a bit loud. I used to think the place was over priced. But now you can catch a matinee (before 1600 hours) for five bucks. You can get a beer or glass of wine and there are the usual concessions. Alas, their choice of beer and wine were not to our liking. I was surprised how dirty the place was, as we caught the first movie of the day. Glad I wasn't barefoot. Amazing to think they left the place that untidy over night. But I'm not some kind of prude who slams a place for being a bit dingy. We went there to see a movie. We wanted comfortable seats and good video and audio. That's what we got. The movie was pretty mind blowing; and we enjoyed ourselves quite a bit. Untidiness aside this is a great movie theater. You cannot go wrong going there to catch a matinee. If you want to catch a recent release it would behoove you to check...
