QDOBA Mexican Eats — Restaurant in Manitowoc

As we were driving by Manitowoc we wanted to stop for dinner and noticed the colorful reviews of this restaurant. We committed to stopping and agreed to post good or bad as we never play food critic and thought the adventure sounded fun. As we arrived the restaurant was nearly empty on a 6pm on a Monday. We were immediately greeted with a smile and pleasant greeting and willingness to help when we were ready. Dispelling other reviews we saw no one who looked high or couldn’t form a sentence. We were served immediately and we all ordered variations of burrito bowls and the only complaint was that the sour cream ran out on one and was a little light. The gentleman who checked us out was efficient although no smile. He dressed a bit like a beer distributor with a Bud hat and Corona shirt versus the uniform everyone else was wearing. The general cleanliness was OK although sitting across from the soda machine and condiment counter they could definitely use a sweep underneath. In fairness you wouldn’t see it unless you were seated. One of our party did use the restroom and suggested it looked like it could use a cleaning. Overall, no major issues and not as bad as we feared after reading the reviews. I will update the post if we experience any I’ll effects on the remainder...

Absolutely terrible experience on 07/10/2021. I ordered food to be picked up at 2:30 and it wasn’t ready until 4:00pm. Employees stood around for 10 minutes before informing me that they ran out of rice and asked if I wanted to wait for rice or get my food without it. I told them I would wait.

They said it would take 20 minutes to make rice, it took over 40. Nobody apologized for the delay, no one kept me updated on what was happening. One of the employees shot me dirty looks the whole time, while making personal phone calls at the register, (because if I didn’t wait for rice, she wasn’t going to make it. I heard her complain about this.) when I finally got my food, I received with an eye roll from the employees.

Well the fact that this place was empty on a Saturday at 6pm should've been a dead give away to go somewhere else. Ordered a burrito and the girl who made it was obviously a new employee but rather than help her the 3 other employee's sat around trying to look busy while sitting on their phones. The burrito was seriously under portioned and was the smallest burrito I've ever gotten at a Qdoba before. It looked like a chili cheese burrito from Taco Bell. And rather than have someone else wrap it at the end, even though the new employee was visibly struggling to do so, no other employee tried to assist. So I basically sat down to a burrito that had the structural integrity of a wet diaper wrapped in tinfoil. Train your staff before letting them serve your finalized product. Overall...
