Spoke to the GM...
He called and we had a productive conversation. In short, I feel that our expectations and what Mansfield Fieldhouse, F/H intends to offer differ. For what they offer I'd agree that Mansfield F/H meets and sometimes exceeds expectations - for that I'll upgrade them from a 2 to a 4. For those considering Mansfield F/H make sure your expectations align with whats offered.
Original Post: Volleyball Parent’s Perspective: Overall Great Facility and Location… BUT Basketball is their PRIORITY Our family has patronized the Mansfield Fieldhouse since it opened. A wide-open warehouse of basketball / volleyball courts – just what we were looking for. Our sport of choice for our girls is volleyball. So my opinion of the Mansfield Fieldhouse will likely be the opposite of the basketball families. Initially, I felt like all sports were given equal priority keeping in mind that you can split one basketball court into two volleyball courts. Several years ago, when they opened, I remember them having nearly one side of the facility devoted to volleyball with the other half for basketball. Over the few years Mansfield Fieldhouse has been open the number of courts devoted to volleyball has continuously shrunk and volleyball is ONLY assigned the 2 volleyball courts (1 basketball court) in the far back corner. Due to the limited number of courts game are randomly scheduled at times as late as 8:40 on Friday nights or at various/random times on Saturday or Sunday – little to no consistency. One season we had several games to get canceled due to tournaments and rescheduled in the middle of week at night during the school year. Have I mentioned my concerns to Mansfield Fieldhouse Staff – YES I’ve verbally mentioned this to them as well as asked the parents to do the same when I coached. Yes, we’ve tried and had success at ACE and NRG but decided to give Mansfield Fieldhouse one more try only to learn little has changed – 7 out of 8 of our daughter’s games will be after 7:00pm on a Friday night… So if you looking for a great facility to play basketball – Mansfield Fieldhouse is awesome… If volleyball is your child’s sport of choice I recommend looking around and don’t worry – Mansfield Fieldhouse wont...
Read moreHad the opportunity to visit the Mansfield field house to watch basketballs games over the course of several weekends. The competition is great however the league could make some improvements with officiating. Officials should be background checked and also have their bags checked prior to entering the building as well as anyone else entering the building. I witnessed an official try to fight a parent and even pulled a gun out of his bag that he was carrying while inside the gym. There should be security and metal detectors to help with the protection of individuals utilizing the facility. The younge staff should be trained better on how to descelste hostile situations before someone gets hurt. Several coaches have said the GM Brandon will not respond to emails and phone calls. There needs to be a lot of improvement and security measures in places before a child or adult gets hurt by a...
Read moreI want to thank the staff at the Fieldhouse for their professionalism. I have been a parent/coach for years and have utilized this facility for at least 8 years. The staff deal with challenging parents, players, and coaches. The Director/Manager Brandon has an incredible staff. I recently observed a parent berating a referee in the middle of an elementary aged basketball game. The staff member noted the interaction from the front desk and immediately intervened. The parent began to use profanity at the staff member. The staff member was very composed and handled herself professionally and almost seemed as if their was training on steps to take to deescalate the situation. Which she by the way did. I truly appreciate the dedication, passion and safety factors the facility and team put into the players, referees and visitors. Great place for my kids to compete...
