I went to Pei Wei for the first time recently. A coworker told me it was better than Panda Express and I like Panda Express a lot.
I ordered ahead and when I got there, another customer was being helped at the counter. After I arrived, a man came in behind me and walked up a little past me like he was trying to cut line.
I moved up a bit to keep my place in line. When the customer ahead of me was done, I stepped towards the counter but so did the guy behind me. It was clear that I was ahead of him but the employee helped him first. I spoke up and said "I was here first" and the guy said he was just there for a pick up. I said "same here, man". The employee handed the guy his order and then began to help me. She didn't say anything about skipping me. No apologies or anything. That was mildly annoying but whatever.
I get my food and go home. I ordered orange chicken. What I got was 75% bland white rice. The disappointing amount of chicken was also bland and unremarkable.
Poor customer service and unappealing food.
I've read several of the poor reviews for this location. The owner has responded to many of them by saying the reviewer should contact them via the website so they can make things right. I already did that a few weeks ago and no one has contacted me. It makes me think the owner is responding on Google so they look like they care without actually following up or...
Read moreI happened across this brand new location on Friday 9/9, their opening day and I was excited to now have a location close to home.
Upon walking in it was immediately evident that they had changed their restaurant concept. Pei Wei used to feel like a sit down casual restaurant with pleasant interiors, good decor, music etc... however this location is sterile, too bright, cheap and screams fast food. There is plastic Ware instead of silverware, paper cups instead of plastic and it wasn't what I was expecting from a place I love and have frequented from El Paso to Houston and in between. Service was good and people were nice. I sat outside on patio, which is nice.
I ordered the Kung pao chicken with brown rice and a side of lettuce wrap sauce. My usual go to is Kung pao beef with Brown rice however I did not see it on the menu and that may have been my oversight. The presentation was great, bright veggies and a good portion but the Kung pao sauce seemed sweeter than I remember having in the past, the peas were paper thin and the overall meal just tasted different, not bad per se, but not what I was expecting.
After eating and leaving I returned home and within one hour I was sick on the toilet...returned my meal you might say.
This may have just been a one off bad experience, which I hope it is, but I sure hope this doesn't become the norm with newly opened or...
Read moreWe like Peiwei and my kids love it. This location is clean and the food was good but the person at the counter acts like she doesn’t want to be there or she doesn’t know how to treat customers at a restaurant.
We noticed it from the time that we got to place the order the girl at the counter didn’t even say hi. When she gave me the cups for drinks she simply put them next to her on her side of the counter without saying anything, I had to reach out to get them, when she brought our food to the table she didn’t say anything again, didn’t ask if everything was OK or if we need something else.
We ordered 3 orange chicken plates, 1 order of wings, 1 drink and I asked her for a cup for water.
After we ate we noticed that she had charged us for 2 drinks so we went back to let her know and she said that the charge was for the paper cup, we mentioned that she didn’t tell us that nor did that was written anywhere. She say “sorry, that how it is” we tried to explain that it was just to get water and she looked frustrated and went to get the manager.
The manager was very polite and helpful he explained to us that the girl had been working there for 4 days and he fixed our ticket.
I hope we have a better...
