We walked 40mins each way from the ferry pier. Worth it. Such a tranquil and charming place, with several docks to wander down and the occasional resident pottering next door to look for a neighbor. Each home has tons of charm and personality. I recommend reading up on the colorful history before you go, folks like Stewart Brand (Long Now Foundation, Whole Earth Catalog) and Shel Silverstein once called it home. We saw the famous Owl and many other lovely abodes. Be respectful when...

Worth spending a half hour strolling quietly through the boardwalks. Each house is unique and its "front yard" (dock frontage) is decorated in colorful potted plants and other artwork. Because people actually live in these there are restrictions on times, dogs, etc but it's still worth seeing. Come, take some pictures, then head in to town for...

I love this place... the colorful houses, the relaxed vibe, the artwork and personal knick-knacks that the owners had placed to make each of their properties their own... and the smell of the salt air. Certainly, a favorite spot in the Bay area, one that I am so happy...
