Great if you have small kids. Water is clear, terrain is flat, fish is nearby (i am talking steps away close), almost no rocks on shore and waves are gentle.
Usually I am stuck right next to my 3 year old toddler because I am worried the water is too rough, my kid will want too far in or there's a drop-off in this water. The water here is incredibly calm and the beach is fairly flat. I do not need to wonder far in to see fish. I am able to safely watch my toddler (that has a life vest and donut ring on) play in the sand near the water and poke my head into water a few feet away and see fish in the clearly in the water. It's late November, it drizzling and the water is still warm. We saw several turtles swimming in the water as large as my kid. We spent several hours here. The only draw back is the lack of a bathroom. There's a Safeway across the street though so if they really had to go I guess we would've gone there.
Also it's kinda weird to see a temple and cemetery right where you park but that's okay. Just kinda weird.
Highly recommended if you have...
Read moreVisited Baby beach whilst we stayed in Lahaina with my partner in May 2023. We both loved it the conditions were perfect for snorkeling and swimming. Baby beach is perfect for kids and beginners for snorkeling, the variety of fish species that you can see is amazing. Saw Green sea turtles one swam past me whilst snorkeling just a couple meters away, a sight I will never forget. I wished I got it on camera but went into the sea a day or before and forgot my cell phone was in my pocket, It's fair to say my cell phone didn't like that. We walked along the beach which was lovely with views towards the island of Lanai which were beautiful. There isn't alot of parking but it's never usually that busy, but it's great for families for a day at the beach. You may even find some sea shells whilst your snorkeling. I would highly recommend a day at baby beach, but not sure if you can with the wild fires that devastated Lahaina 😓 I would chech first. I am super honoured to have been able to visit baby beach and Lahaina. Steve and...
Read moreBaby Beach in Lahaina is a true gem for families and anyone seeking a peaceful ocean experience on Maui’s west side. What makes it special is the natural reef that breaks the waves offshore, creating an incredibly calm, shallow lagoon—perfect for young children, beginner snorkelers, or anyone just wanting to wade without worry.
The sand is soft and golden, and the water clarity is often excellent, especially in the morning. There’s plenty of shade from the nearby trees, which is a blessing on hot days. It’s not usually as crowded as some of the more tourist-heavy beaches in Kaanapali, giving it a more relaxed, local vibe.
A couple things to keep in mind: there aren’t any public restrooms or major facilities, so plan ahead. Parking is street-only and can be tight during peak hours. But if you’re looking for a calm, beautiful spot to unwind—especially with kids—this beach more than makes up for the...
