During our stay in Kaanapali last week, we looked at many, many snorkeling cruises and finally decided on Blue Water Maui. Our call was taken by Micki who answered all of our many questions. She took the time to assure us that Blue Water Maui was the best fit for what we were looking for. Their boats (and groups) are smaller and much more personally oriented than the larger companies are able to offer. From the moment we arrived, we knew we had made the right choice. The boat's crew, Mark and Brian, were fabulous - professional, knowledgable, and over-the-top accommodating to the 9 of us who sailed. Their total passion and enjoyment of their jobs was evident.
The ride out to Lana'i was great all by itself. They pointed out so many interesting sights, and explained so many things that we were unaware of. Of course, they found an ideal spot to snorkel just off the shore of Lana'i. Their use of a huge foam mat provided an ideal platform to ease our way into the water. While going to our next location, Mark located a huge pod of dolphins which gave us all the opportunity of a lifetime to see several hundred of these incredible creatures. Once again, their knowledge and explanations provided much more than just a photo op with Dolphins. Our second location was a few miles south of Lahaina where we enjoyed a good lunch and then a leisurely time back in the water where we saw plenty of fish and turtles. Not once during the nearly five hours did we ever feel rushed to move on.
Have you noticed all of the 5 Star reviews for Blue Water Maui? There's a very good reason for them. Don't waste your time looking for a "cheaper" snorkel trip, but remember the old saying, "You get what you pay for." In our case, we consider that we got a really good bargain - Blue Water Maui far exceeded our...

We chose Blue Maui over others because itis advertised “This adventure features our exclusive Blue Water Maui Floating Island for lounging, playing or drift snorkeling!” However there was no drift snorkeling, even when requested. In fact, when our kids wanted to use the pad, it was being used by divers and we were told to wait.
We spent the majority of our time at the first spot with very little to see despite being told we’d be there 10 minutes. The second spot was great, but even when everyone was loaded, we continued to stay there, cutting the most spectacular spot to a mere 15 minute experience.
While the crew was kind, they weren’t overly eager to help. Equipment including the vests, cooler and lily pad are in dire need up replacement.
The chef lunch included cold mushy burritos and quesadillas. Time would have been better spent snorkeling. Fortunately all 3 places we snorkeled are easily accessibly by land. We have done several snorkels without children and found this one to be...
Read moreFantastic people, boat, and operation. We went for a whale/snorkel outing. We really appreciated the knowledge, safety, insight, and frankly- the passion about whales. These guys fed us a ton of information in an enjoyable way. We really enjoyed the sense of humor as well. We were so lucky to see a whale fully breach out of water, both of our guides got very excited, we knew how lucky we were, these guys do this every day.
The snorkeling was great, the guys have a spot they love, we were in luck to see turtles right up to us, sharks, fish, coral, they even brought a starfish up from 30ft for my four year old to take a look at. My family enjoyed themselves so much, they requested a second outing a couple days later for another snorkeling trip.
Truly- so much humble care and attention to their clients! The crew was very respectful of Covid and made things super comfortable (mask wearing, distance, sanitizing, etc.). Cant recommend these guys enough, worth the extra money to do things on a high end smaller boat like...
