We took a glassblowing lesson at Moana Glass during our trip in Maui. We had a super fun time and got to bring back a beautiful, handmade keepsake!

They were directly affected by the Lahaina fire, lost their gallery, and had to repair their workshop due to the smoke damage. They are back up and running again and would be a fantastic place for you to support.

Adam did a good job convincing us that we should make the fish sculpture and we're glad that we decided to do that because we got to see (and try) a bunch of cool techniques. You get to pick out the colors that you want and they'll give you some protective eye glasses to put on. Make sure you come wearing fully closed toed shoes and cotton clothing. They let you engrave 2 letters or 2 numbers to the bottom of your sculpture.

Our glass blowing instructor Paul was very skilled and entertaining. He did a great job guiding us through the different steps and making sure our fish came out looking fantastic.

The glass that you make can be taken home after 3 PM the next day (they will bubble wrap it for you), or they have an option to ship it. Definitely recommend this glassblowing experience as a meaningful way to give back to the businesses in Lahaina. Go...

An absolute must experience! As you explore Maui you will discover numerous art galleries with blown glass art from artists on Maui and the Hawaiian Islands. Skip them ALL and go to Moana Glass in Lahaina! Not only do they have an amazing selection of blown glass art for purchase you also can watch glass blowing live or even make your own piece at a very reasonable price! We chose to make our own blown glass art piece, and the experience was amazing! The trained expert staff of artisans guide and assist you the entire process from beginning to end. Neither my wife or I are artists of any kind but with Paul’s help we were able to make a really nice blown glass fish in about 45 minutes. Paul took the time to explain each step of the process as we meticulously made our fish from a blob of 2000F+ molten hot glass. After we made our fish it was transferred into a “controlled” cooling kiln to allow the sculpture to cool slowly to prevent thermal cracking. If you are looking for a unique experience which goes beyond your standard art gallery tour you must visit this place. It is located just as you enter Lahaina from the bypass on the right. You can’t miss it. Have...

Ryan and his team (Mike and Teressa) were outstanding from start to finish. We were greeted with open arms and a wonderful walk threw of the facility. Along the way Mike informed us of Ryan’s life-long obsession with this dying art form and introduced us to some of his amazing works of art. Before getting started we had the pleasure of meeting Ryan and hearing first-hand about the amazing journey that glass has taken him on. After “signing our life away” as if we were swimming with sharks - Mike passed the torch to our instructor Teressa. Both my girlfriend and I are very factorial and curious people but Teressa handled our berrage of questions with ease. We had decided to blow a fish and a bowl and my girlfriend would go first. We were able to learn on the fly and our instructor explained each step prior to executing them. Our experience culminated with two great pieces that we picked up a few days later. Both turned out far better than expected and will surely be a very special and colorful addition to our home. We can’t thank Ryan and his team enough for a wonderful experience and the...

This was our single most favorite experience on Maui. I have wanted to blow glass since I was a teenager, and at 35 and stoked that I finally got my chance. My gf and I booked a 1hr session and came out with an amazing fish that we made together. The process was informative and extremely hands on. You get a short lesson on the process before even touching any of the tools and quickly dive right in. In the instance of the fish, some relatively simple techniques were responsible for bringing this piece to life. It was everything that I ever wanted it to be and even encouraged me to look into it when Im back home in order to continue learning. I strongly encourage you to take some time away from the beach bum days, the snorkeling, and even the wonderful hiking available, and spend some time learning a new craft and creating a wonderful souvenir that reminds you of what very well might be your only trip to this beautiful island. Don't forget to wear closed-toed shoes and to tip your teacher.
