Didn’t know my tooth was cracked. I knew in needed a crown but u Couldn’t afford it at the time so Yes I knew I needed to get it fixed!!! Dentist said only thing to do was extract it. Okay completely understand…. Asked for some nitro’s to help calm me down. The dental assistant said okay I’ll get you a quote, I honesty I would have paid what ever. They came back didn’t give me a quote even though I asked for one . They Started the operation. I should have stopped them and asked about the nitros but I didn’t. I am a people pleaser. Any way I was in tears and having a panic attack the whole time they were yanking on my jaw. They did to their expertise get it out quickly. But I honestly felt like SHIT because they didn’t take my concerns seriously. I cried for 5 minutes after and I NEVER Do that! They were nice enough but after my needs were not met I felt salty. Numbing wore off a few hours later. when called a few times in horrible pain. they refused to give me painkillers.i am not a drug attic but they made me feel like one!!!!!! I Under stand where they were coming from but I needed immediate help! The next day understood why they said i didn’t need it be cause the pain was very diminished. But i still could have used assistance for the first 24 hours. I was very concerned about possibly having dry socket after slurping saimin I called a few times to get an appointment no call back. Realized I don’t have dry socket. Lots of looking in my mouth and comparing to internet photos. Called the next day after felt like it could have been infected? No call back!!! Again!!!! Felt like they don’t give a shit! I GAVE UP ON THEM! Went to my doctors at Kaiser And got antibiotics got it within hours. Still 7 days later no call after my numerous attempts at contacting the dentist. My infection that I know I had has subsided no thanks to Hawai’i family dental has gone away. I am thoroughly disappointed in this dentist and his staff. The front desk was nice enough and seemed like they wanted to help but the dentist and his assistant were always conveniently on break, or at lunch and I should have been expecting a phone call before 5:30pm. Those phone calls never came!
Supper disappointed. Losing a tooth is traumatic on its own. But this experience made it so much worse.
Not sure what else to say other than I’m a completely traumatized. Very scared to go back...
Read moreHad an overall negative experience on this visit on Monday, March 27. I received a text on Saturday, March 25 notifying myself of a last minute cancellation that would allow me to finish my deep cleaning and that I should report on Monday, March 28 (note that it is actually Monday, March 27) at 12:00 noon. Being at the end of the month, I was told I needed to complete the deep cleaning in order to receive my free cleaning benefit (which was never explained to me regarding the issue of having 1 hygienist complete the deep cleaning). If a different hygienist did the 2nd half of the deep cleaning, I would have to pay for the cost. This Monday, March 27 notification came a week after I received a 1 day notice for a cleaning on March 23 that I ultimately could not make because of prior commitments. Coming from West Maui, I told Anna that I typically need more than 1 day notice. So, on 2 weeks in a row, I was given 1 day notices on my deep cleaning. This cleaning should have been scheduled earlier on my first half cleaning that I received in mid-February and not put off until the last few days of March. Over a month had gone by without being scheduled for the 2nd half of my deep cleaning and there was no guarantee that I could be accommodated with less than 1 week to go in March.
Upon arriving on Monday, March 27 at noon, I signed in and waited for over 30 minutes while other patients walked in, signed in, and were called to received their treatment. No one addressed me until one of the employees, mdwilson (front desk/receiving area, asked me if I was being taken care of. She took the responsibility for the error of my appointment which was actually Tuesday, and not Monday. She was able to scramble to have Anna do the deep cleaning after 1:00pm after I refused to come back on the next day.
In summary, there should be no excuse for not having an accurate appointment schedule for patients as patients also have tight schedules and commitments. Also, there should be more awareness of patients who check in. No one should have to sit over 30 minutes without being acknowledged. In my situation on Monday, your employee, Md Wilson, showed awareness by noticing that I was the only one in the receiving area and immediately made amends to the situation.
I'm expecting Hawaii Family Dental will take note of these events and strive to make...
Read moreSo I was in a lot of pain from a tooth that needed to be extracted. I did a whole lot of running around trying to find someone who could help me over the weekend.
On Saturday I spoke with someone from Hawai’i Family Dental that explained to me that the do not do same day extractions. And since it has been a while since I last came in that I would need to have my X-ray exam done first and then we could schedule my extraction, which would be a month from now because their extraction appointments were fully booked.
On Sunday Morning, after a failed attempt to get help from another Dental facility I decided to try Hawai’i Family Dental one more time, since I knew that they were the only Dental facility that was open on a Sunday. When I first called the receptionist told me that they did not have any room for any more patients for today (which I totally understood), but that she could fit me in the next day. She mentioned that she was the only one working at the moment, she would talk to the Dr.’s and then she would let me know more.
When I got there and spoke to the receptionist she was very sweet, helpful and professional. The more we talked the more things progressed in my favor to be seen sooner than I though. As she went back and forth from helping me in the front and talking to the Dr in the back, I filled out an updated patient form. It literally went from me not being able to get a same day extraction to picking up my prescriptions at 1pm, to being seen for an exam and getting my prescriptions at 1 pm, to if I was willing to wait for him to finish with his other patients then he could extract it for me that day! I was so ecstatic! Of course I did not mind waiting, I was more than thrilled that they even got to see me today at all, on such short notice.
All the staff, the Dr., his assistant and the receptionist that helped me were all so great and very knowledgeable. They were able to answer any questions or concerns that I had. And they took really great care of me. This was not my first time going to a Hawai’i Family Dental Facility and I have yet to have a bad experience. I am always satisfied when I leave, and I’m so glad that I came in. I only wish I remembered the names of the people who helped me, but I am so terrible at...
