Was definitely a great idea to stay here on our journey through Hana Highway. We stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed the amenities. Location was perfect and photos are very true to what you get. The outdoor washroom was a nice touch!
Unfortunately, wifi was extremely weak, and we could not connect at all. We had difficulty getting in touch with the staff since they were not at the office, and we couldn't call them without internet connection. Eventually, we drove around until we found a spot in a restaurant and was able to shoot them an email to discuss how to make our payment.
We also had difficulty finding extra things (ie. dish soap, lighters for bug coils) as they were not marked or listed clearly. We also couldn't ask since we couldn't reach anyone. We encountered a couple on our second last day who had arrived for a treatment but, again, could not get a hold of staff. Even with American phone plans, there was poor-to-no reception.
Overall, the poor communication kind of took away from it, but we are still glad that we had a nice place to stay and retreat in Maui.
Edit 2022 July:
It’s been years since my review and I have not contacted the business since. I just got an email with some really rude content. We did not do what they stated years ago, and am not sure why they’re sending anything now.
“So, you decide to pee in our kitchen sink because there were mosquitoes in the shower house, and proud to broadcast your nastiness to everyone? Is that what you do at home when things don't go your way? It only shows who you are and where you come from with not much intelligence. People are talking about you.
Next time do your homework and learn the fact that this is the east side of the island, known as the rainforest and the jungle, and so there will be bugs, birds and animals that inhabit our surroundings which make our island amazing and can only be appreciated by those with culture and sophistication who love and cherish nature and not some shallow citified wannabe jealous filipino.”
Yeah, that 3 star review is...
Read moreIncredible accommodations in the form of a Yurt! Everyone should try this at least once! There is only one for overnight stays available at Luana Spa Retreat, and the rates are very reasonable.||There is a queen bed, very comfortable, a kitchenette with utensils, cookware, plates, etc., small fridge, microwave, toaster and cooktop and dining table. No hot water in the kitchen sink, but everything else essential. There is a BBQ grill outside with chairs and tiki torches. I cooked breakfast of Eggs Benedict, turkey bacon, papayas and guava with Bloody Mary's and fresh ground coffee while it rained outside, so much fun! I also cooked Pork Loin Chop one evening for dinner, also inside due to wind. There is no TV, but there is a cd/radio, take cd's or listen to the Hawaiin cd's provided. Also, no wifi, but we had no problem with phone service.||The bathroom with shower is outside, and is very clean and close, abundant hot water and electricity and some very nice shampoo, conditioner, lotion and scrub. There is a blow dryer too.||The Yurt is very private with beautiful views of Hana Beach! Lots of windows too. The driveway is very steep, but short, and there is a very popular Thai food truck at the base of the driveway. There were a couple folks who were curious and ventured up the driveway, I shooed them away.||This is a Spa, so there is a thatched roof area for massages and another yurt that is the office and massages and facials as well as many other services available here. We enjoyed a 60 minute massage and 60 minute facial each, it was magnificent! Eve, the manager, was very accommodating and respectful. ||We highly reccomend giving this unusual accommodation a try! Especially while traveling The Road to Hana,...
