Pricey food that's just OK, and the only option after 7PM.
We got drinks and appetizers here in the afternoon. The staff was generally friendly and helpful (though asking for a phone # when you arrive, even when there's no wait, is weird and unnecessary...probably a corporate requirement the host has to follow, as the restaurant is owned by Hyatt).
The alcohol based drinks were rather expensive but strong, and that was one of the redeeming features.
The milkshake I got was small for the price but good quality ingredients and tasty... The size left me wanting more, however.
Unfortunately the fries tasted and looked like frozen fries and were cold the moment they came out--for the price I'd expect them to be cut on site and also cooked properly. The hurricane sauce they came with was tasty but not really worth the $17 or so that we paid.
All the entrees were rather pricey, even by Maui standards, and rather uninspiring. We saw some burgers and other entrees come out. We considered the burgers but they were small and came with the same sad (plain) fries...not worth the price. We opted to get dinner at the local food trucks instead.
I can see why the Maui Revealed guide used to warn against eating here, and even now just barely recommends them. (Apparently they've improved a lot over the past few years...I'd hate to have eaten here years ago). There's still room to improve--slightly more reasonable prices or a bit more food would go a long way.
I hate to give places low ratings, especially in small towns where there are limited opportunities for both employees and visitors but the negatives outweighed the positives in this case.
Don't think I'd eat here again but it's a OK spot to unwind with a drink as you contemplate which food truck to order an early...
Read moreGreat little gem. Belongs to Hana Maui (Travasaa) resort. But lunch & dinner is now served at Hana Ranch Restaurant. We got there for late lunch around 2pm - they are open an afternoon until late dinner (i believe 8 pm).
THE FOOD: We ordered a Teri Burger and Fish Burger. They come with side of fries or garden salad. And i never thought i would say this but i wish i had gotten the side salad because the fresh lettuce leaf on my fish burger was the best lettuce I've ever had in my life. I know that sounds hilarious, but it was so good!!! The fish on fish sandwich/burger was perfectly cooked and the brioche bun super fresh. The Wasabi Aioli was a perfect touch for the fish burger. Teri Burger was great, too. The entree food was excellent. Ordered the Cheesecake for dessert (our server said Mango cheesecake but the menu said Lilikoi) and i have to say for $15 it was a bit of a letdown. Couldn't really taste the mango or Lilikoi. Presentation was beautiful, but taste was just a normal cheesecake with a hint of a tropical flavor of some sort. I'm still giving 5 stars for food rating because the main dishes were perfection.
THE VIEW: Nice view, but street and & power lines in front so somewhat obstructed view of ocean. Outside terrace is nice but be aware some flies may start bugging you when the food comes out.
Restrooms are outside and locked with code so only restaurant visitors can use. Hostess can give you little piece of paper with code on it. No soap, only hand sanitizer to wash hands with, but i guess that'll do. Hot water didn't work or was turned off in...
Read moreWe came to this restaurant with a good mood, ready to sit down and enjoy dinner, but the experience was extremely disappointing. From the very beginning, the waitress approached us without a greeting or smile and immediately asked, in a rude tone, “What do you want?” Later, when I showed her a photo from reviews and asked if I could order that dish, she dismissively replied, “Order from the menu,” in the same unfriendly manner.
We waited a long time for our food, and when it finally arrived, she brought all the dishes at once. The food was not fresh, had an unpleasant smell, and even contained a hair on the plate. My husband’s dish came with wilted, dried-out vegetables, which was unacceptable. The cocktail tasted like tap water, which was revolting. Although we sat for a little while, I did not touch the food, and later we simply asked for the check.
To make matters worse, as we were leaving, one of the waiters — a young man who worked there — suspiciously followed and appeared to be watching my husband, which left us with a very disturbing and unpleasant feeling.
As a loyal Hyatt guest and Globalist member, I am truly disgusted and cannot believe Hyatt allows such poor food quality and such appalling service, where guests are met with hostility instead of hospitality. People come here on vacation to relax and enjoy nature, spending their money to support local businesses — yet the treatment we received was the exact opposite. Overall, this place left us with a deeply...
