Our guide Scotty picked us up right on time. When I saw it was him, I was overjoyed because of the great reviews he has had. He definitely didn't disappoint, he went above and beyond! On the drive up he gave us information about many things on the island, made sure we are all comfortable and let us settle in for a long and very curvy ride. We were one of the first two vehicles up there and the first tour. After a quick stop at the bathroom, Scotty pulled out his duffle bag full of extra sweatshirts, hats, and gloves. Even for us who are used to very cold weather, it's very windy up there. If you think that you're dressed warm enough, put on two to three more layers. We are from northern Minnesota I had a t-shirt, sweatshirt, snowboarding jacket, and gloves. I borrowed another sweatshirt, had another set of gloves, and a hat and it was still chilly. Luckily because he got us there so quickly, we had our choice of viewing spot. He pointed out some constellations while we stood in 30 mile an hour winds at 35 degrees. He took us to a special spot and the wind was pretty much gone! Waiting for 1 hour for the colors to show was the best stargazing I have ever done. No lights anywhere to be seen and millions of stars. We saw satellites, a shooting star, and Scotty pointed out Jupiter, Saturn, and prepared us for a red blinking Mercury to come over the horizon. Sure enough, there it was, and rose quickly. After an hour of waiting, the beautiful colors started to appear. Scotty helped all of us with the best camera settings depending on the lightness of the sky. Once the colors started appearing, you could hear the excited voices all around. Scotty did a great job with taking pictures of each couple, complete with unique shots we would have never came up with. Another tour guide, Polynesian I believe, sang the sunrise chant. It was magical!! After all of the excitement of the sunrise, we headed up to the summit, took more pictures, saw the silversword plant, and Scotty had even more unique photo opportunities for us. On the way down we had a warm beverage and a danish to tie us over for an hour until breakfast. We stopped for a wonderful breakfast at the Kula Lodge, toured the beautiful gardens, and browsed a couple shops. The ride down the rest of the mountain was beautiful, seeing Maui from a whole new viewpoint. I would definitely recommend using Temptation Tours for this experience. It could have been...
Read moreThe road to hana tour was a tour we were excited to do it was supposed to cover a large part of the island and we were so excited to do it. Les was our driver and he was a really kind, nice man. Unfortunately I believe he was not physically and mentally invested in our trip. There were so many main attractions along the road that we most certainly could have stopped at with pull over and look out spots and he chose to drive right past them and even slow down enough so we could take pictures. Also we had to ask him what was that and what's down there. I honestly believe he was more interested in eating breakfast and lunch than anything. We stayed way too long for both stops. The breakfast was so unorganized we pulled over on the side of the road for 30 minutes for him to try to get our orders and one of the other passengers wound up writing it all down because he could just could not get it together. There were only 6 of us total in the private charter Van. For the amount of money we paid on this private charter we should have definitely had more stops along the way and less downtime for breakfast than lunch. We felt very cheated on this trip. We had done several excursions throughout the week and this excursion was the most expensive one and I feel the most cheated. We stopped at 1 waterfall for about 15 minutes and we stopped at the black sands beach for about an hour which was extremely nice. Les didn't even mention to make sure we visited the blowhole, the lava tube or the black sands beach. This trip was supposed to be a scenic tour and he didn't even narrate the entire time. Unfortunately I would not recommend Temptation Tours because of this issue and I'm not sure if this lies on Les or the company itself. This was a once in a lifetime trip and I feel extremely cheated and disappointed. We spent many hours in the van without stopping at any attractions or slowing down for a chance to take pictures. There was no one behind us at all. I feel less was just going through the motions of a long day driving in a van. Something needs to change! We did numerous tours while we were in hawaii including polynesian adventures as the tour guide. They were incredible and so were all the other tours that we experienced. I wish I could have added Temptation Tours to this list....
Read moreWe recently took the Road to Hana tour with Temptation Tours, and I must say it was a thoroughly disappointing experience. Despite confirming over the phone that there would only be 4 people in our group, we ended up being packed into a van with 8 people. This was far from the intimate tour we were promised.
The breakfast provided was nothing more than a Little Debbie chocolate croissant, which hardly constitutes a proper meal. Lunch was equally underwhelming. Considering the numerous restaurants along the way, the lack of a decent meal was a significant letdown.
The van itself was old and uncomfortable. Our driver repeatedly mentioned that he wished we had been given one of the newer vans, and it was easy to see why. The advertised "captain's chairs" for each passenger were nonexistent. Someone was crammed into the front seat with no legroom, and three people were squished into the very back. This was far from the comfortable experience we expected.
The guide's performance was the worst part of the tour. He knew virtually nothing about the history of the road or the surrounding area. Instead, he spent most of the time talking about the houses he built for celebrities during his time in construction. His negative remarks about the locals were highly inappropriate and uncomfortable, including statements like "they don’t like white people but you get used to it" and "all the locals will be out here this weekend for Memorial Day, I think I’ll call in."
For the cost of this tour, we expected a high-quality experience. Unfortunately, it did not live up to any of the hype. I would never book a tour through this company again and strongly advise others to...
