Food Depot — Attraction in McDonough

This review is for the Food Depot in McDonough Ga on 516 Macon St. My mom have been a regular at this food depot since we moved to the area 10 years ago. On this particular day my mom decided to pick up some meat but after looking she didn't think the meats were fresh this day so decided not to get anything. She was in the parking lot making her way to her car when "Tim" the store manager approached her which they knew each by name because she was a regular asked if she could come inside and offered to hold her coupon bag which was heavy she said no problem. Not thinking anything of until she got to the front door of the store and everyone was staring at her as if she was criminal, at that point she knew something was wrong he took her to his office and then asked if he could search her bag. My mom asked why? He then told her a customer said they saw "someone" put something in a pink bag. My mom who's a diabetic sugar was low and she was feeling sick and needed something to eat then told "Tim" to go ahead and search her bag because she didn't want to pass out but also told him if her sugar wasn't low he would of had to call the cops because she is no thief! I was furious when she told me what happened it took everything out of me not to go up there so said I would contact the corporate office. I called and spoke to "Joann" she said she would talk to him.... I called back and she said oh I'm sorry they get overzealous sometimes and that was it. I feel like it was brushed off like it was no big deal which it is a big deal because now my mom paranoid everytime she goes in a store she worrys about if someone is going to think she's stealing. This should never happen ever again no one should have to endure this type of treatment it's very disrespectful and...

The parking lot looks like a bomb went off. Trash everywhere, karts (buggys) everywhere. Holes all through out the parking lot and crushed concrete. The paint on the actual parking lot is so old its barely seeable anymore and the parking lot is NOT up to ADA Law standards at all. Also the Sign on the building is messed up. Most of the letters are either burnt out OR almost....

the inside just looks VERY OLD, OUTDATED, STAINED & DIRTY !!!!

EVERY cash regester station is broken is the 1st thing u see when u enter I to the store, with every glass light bowl on top either missing, not working, or just busted with missing pieces.

There is VERY LITTLE good one can actually say about this store. Im just surprised the City of McDonough or the State hasnt just shut this store down yet.

With the condition of this store staying the same for nearly 10 years ( a decade ), just goes to show how the Food Depot Corp cares so little or not at all for their customers or staff.

Id hate to know how the staff are treated if they store looks like a trash...

The aesthetics of the store has improved, but what disappoints me is that they continue to sell spoiled product. Within the past three months, I’ve had to take back three different types of groceries for a refund because it is spoiled. I’m making this review because again I purchased a half gallon of milk from them the other day and it already taste spoiled But the due date says used by July 12, and it pisses me off that this is my neighborhood grocery store that I like going to, but they cannot keep their product. From spoiling out too quickly. Or is either that the product is not selling and they are refusing to remove it from the shelves pushing sales. A lot of stores do this, but this is not safe nor healthy . Someone can get food poisoning or stomach virus from eating spoiled meat or dairy. And also make sure the boxes are properly sealed and closed of some of your products. And if people are bringing back spoiled product, you all need to have some compassion and apologize.
