Ace Hardware — Attraction in McHenry

I have been to this store a lot of times with great experience. Today was not a nice one. Me and my wife drop by to buy something for planting. We got everything but when paying, the cashier named Karen wasn't helpful. First she told us we done have a coupon available for the items we have. I am a rewards member and I doubled checked my account and we have a $20 off for a $100 purchase. Now when I wanted to use it she said I could use it the next time we come back. I wanted to use it today. So she canceled everything scanned all the items and let us pay $96 more. She must be in a hurry to go home where she didnt think about what she is doing. Now we have to wait 5-7 business days to get our money back. So disappointed. She needs to be trained again. When.we were done paying, She didnt even put our stuff in a plastic. When I asked, her response was that we didnt say we wanted the items in a plastic. Ridiculous. I didnt know we have to tell them that....

I purchased the wrong length screws because what I measured were flush with the board and they needed to protrude enough to attach an acorn nut. When I went back to the store and explained my problem, the person who helped me graciously substituted the new screws without judgment about my measurements. Obviously if I had measured more carefully, I would not have had the problem. He also allowed to let the small difference in price to be waived. I have shopped in this Ace Hardware store many times before. But I never had to go back and explain that I had made a mistake previously.
