While the food was good and the service was fair,, the bill was a shock. Included in the bill was a 20% gratuity and a "fee". Apparently, this restaurant punishes customers for using a credit card. The "fee" is a charge for paying for your food with a credit card.. We were not told this in advance and there is no sign inside or outside the restaurant. I think it would be better to include the fee in the prices and give the customer a "discount" for using cash. And I always thought that the amount of the gratuity was left to the customer. Never had a bill that looked like the one I got at this restaurant. Our bill for 2 adults was $51. Ordered nothing special. My order did not have meat, chicken or fish. Did not have a cocktail, appetizer or coffee. And we shared a desert. It's not the amount of the bill, but the fact that a 20% gratuity and a "fee" was included in the bill. We newbies, 1st time tonight 8/4/21. The ease of your online ordering 👍👍! No delivery but thats the norm in Mchenry. We picked it up and came home..... Home made complimentary salsa and chips is delicious and very comparable to some of the older established staples of the area. The Guacamole oh my goodness gracious definitely home made with fresh chunks of onion, tomatoes, Cilantro, and seasoning was delectable and tasty. No jalapeños in this batch but I'm sure you could get it spicy if you like. The steak sopes with there red hot sauce was filling and tested delicious. The Chicken sope with the salsa verde oh my it was a tasted bud explosion of deliciousness that made everything just seem right in the world and a smile came over me. Ordered off the mariscos menu. A disjointed interpretation that lacked quality. The fish itself tasted like a frozen prebreaded filet. What made it worse was the taste of the old fryer oil: inedible. Then the frozen bagged shrimp; one was battered, one was a tiny shrimp peeled and deveined. The third variety was unpeeled. It just didnt make sense and it wasnt good, finally, if you’re going to serve in a molcajete the molcajete needs to be the cooking vessel not just a bowl to transfer the food into.
