We have driven by this place for years and I always assumed it was just a cocktail lounge but a friend went here recently and let me know that it's actually an Indian Fusion restaurant. Six of us came for lunch and we all had something different. My husband had the blackened burger with grilled onion and jalapenos. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly and he loved it. I had the My Way Roll with vindaloo sauce with cauliflower and peas. It's very similar to dosa with a paper thin crispy chickpea wrap. The filling was so flavorful and delicious. My side dish was saffron rice which was good but served very dry (seasoned but no sauce). Others had the curry, the wrap, a pizza and another type of roll and we all shared an order of fries (nothing too special but still good). Everyone said their food was good and they would come back. The mango lassi drink was a big hit too. I marked down the service because we got our food exactly one hour after we arrived and we were the only ones in the restaurant. But our server was friendly and efficient so I can overlook the wait. Try it, you...
Read moreI would give this place no stars if I could. I took my boyfriend and a few friends here for HIS BIRTHDAY. It started off well, waiter was nice, we ordered drinks. Started getting drinks one by one instead of bringing multiple drinks at once. Little after an hour I finally asked if we could order food. Food orders seemed to go ok. Food started to come out about 40 mins later, one by one again, til about half the table had food then it stopped. Then brought 2 more plates few mins later. 4 people were still missing their food, my boyfriend and I included. 20 mins later they brought out 2 other friends food. Still no food for my boyfriend and I. After being there for 2 1/2 hours and still no food we decided to leave then the food finally came out after everyone was done eating, paying their bills, waiting on us. Then what?! My food was wrong!! I ate it just because I havent eaten but I shouldnt have, the steak was over cooked. I ordered prime rib. The waiter tried to tell me it was prime rib. It wasn't. Then they still tried to charge us! We just walked out and...
Read moreIf you're hearing people around McHenry rave about the Indian food at My Place, that's likely because they're new to Indian food or they were drunk. We've had it a few times and it's JUST OKAY, it's the kind of Indian food we eat when we don't want to drive more than 20 minutes to eat better Indian food. The meal we just had featured burned, dense and chewy Paratha and burned, oily Samosa. ONE OF THE SAMOSAS WAS EVEN EMPTY. This food was just bad. The cook's Aunty would be very disappointed. We won't be returning. Drunken bar patrons might love it but exotic, adventurous food this is not. Foodies steer clear. FLOP.
