La Huerta 5 — Local services in McHenry

5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ La Huerta 5 Mexican grocery store on 120 across from Binnys. I know there are several of these grocery stores but never tried their restaurant side! HUGE REGRET! I always run in grab pico and cecina and take it home.

Last night after a very long day I called to ask what time the restaurant closes. 8:30pm. Cool our last appointment ends at 8. We run over there, place is packed. 8:15 Friday night 6 bags on the counter of to go bags, people eating at booths, people in line at the register, the phone constantly ringing, and 3 guys running it hustle style yet not even acting remotely stressed. Ordered and went to the grocery side to pick up a few things. Came back 10 minutes later and my food was just being bagged up.

Sorry I didn’t take pictures. Looked very basic Mexican restaurant food. Seriously the best Mexican food I’ve had in the area. Very fresh ingredients. Portions are bigger, my husband couldn’t finish his, and the prices are less than other local spots. I’m really impressed! We will be back!

Small taqueria in the side of a grocery store. It looked like they just came out of a rush when I stoped in. Open kitchen area so you see them prepare your food. Friendly and quick. AL Pastore had a good flavor not weak and tasteless or drowned in any hot garbage so you can taste the seasoning. Cut to order from the spit not out of a stainless bin in the steam table. Asada was also very good. Mild flavor but the quality was very good, this was not that fatty grizzle that you get from the left overs from the Butcher or just lower quality like some of the other Mexican restaurants in McHenry like some of the other users mentioned.

Burrito came with rice and beans and cups of sauce. Red being their hot and green the mild. Prices were fair considering I was not eating rubber bands again like their competitors. Will return again for carry out as seating is...

I have been to this place a few times now. The food was good, but I've always noticed how dirty the place was. Dirty tables, food prep area, entrance, etc. But today I ordered my food, and while he was making change for me, I looked down at the counter and saw much debris, including food particles, dirt and clearly MOUSE DROPPINGS!!! I pointed out that I wanted to cancel my order due to MOUSE DROPPINGS right in front of BOTH of us. He returned my money and didnt even bother to address this DISGUSTING problem. I have to do what is right and report them to health officials. It's too bad because they have good food, but health and SAFETY first amigos!
