I went to Kid to Kid this morning to try to get rid of some of my son's old clothes and get store credit to maybe get him some stuff his size. There were four employees behind the counter, none of them with a customer, I asked if someone was available to please help me carry a couple of light boxes (I had my son with me and I had no way of carrying them in myself). One woman tried to give me a freight cart to get my stuff, I asked again if a person could please help me because I had nowhere to leave my kid and load the stuff and no way to push a cart holding him. She came out and helped me. I then had to load all of my items flat into their baskets for them to appraise I had to put my child down to do this and he immediately began screaming his head off. Two employees stood behind the counter watching me the whole time and chatted about how attached some kids are to their moms and how just so I know they're overstocked on infant boy clothes so they'd only be taking the "best of the best" (I have an infant and he's a boy so I'm not sure what they were expecting me to bring in instead...?) and did not offer to help in any way. It took me about 15 minutes to unload it all with my son continuing to cry the entire time. I was asked to fill out a form and indicate whether I wanted cash or store credit and whether I would like my items back that they didn't take or if I'd like to donate them. The woman then explained to me what donate meant like I was 5 years old. I then got to wait 40 minutes while they appraised my stuff (I was required to stay in the store). Nobody checked in with me during that time, so I wandered the store holding my heavy baby because they don't have carts or anywhere to sit down. Then they called me up to tell me they were done and that I'd be getting and email by the end of the day telling what I'd earned in store credit....so I had to wait all that time and I did not find out what I even earned. I left livid. It was the honestly worst customer service I have ever had and lack of compassion for a mama with a crying child (IN A STORE FOR CHILDREN) was unreal. I won't be...
Read moreThe store does have nice clothes and at reasonable prices, but how they aquire the clothes is suspicious to me. I brought in 3 totes of toddler clothes that were name brand, not stained, and in very good condition. I called the store before bringing the clothes in to see if they took clothes that were out of season, because I had a lot of clothes that were for the summer and winter is now approaching, and they said that they did. I arrived at the store an hour before they closed and the worker informed me that they wouldn't have time to go through my items that night, and they would send me an email the following day letting me know what they were offering me for the clothes. The following day at 3:45 pm I received an email stating they were only giving me $11 out of the 3 totes of clothes I brought in, and that I had 24 hours to come and pick up the rest of the clothes or they would donate them on my behalf. I don't live in Medford, and I called and asked if they could hold the clothes for an extra day because I wasn't able to make it there that evening, and they told me they wouldn't. I started thinking about it, and figure this is probably how they acquire a lot of the clothes they sell. They don't offer to buy the clothes you bring in, and then give you an unreasonable amount of time to come back and pick up the remaining clothes, or they get you to sign saying that they can donate the clothes they don't take before they give you their offer so they can actually sell them without paying for them. If there wasn't so much that they weren't going to pay me for I would have liked to see if I found my items on the shelf if I wasn't able to have someone else go and pick them up for me. They also requested that you wash the clothes 24 hours before bringing them in, and I am very grateful that I have a washer and dryer because it would have cost probably $50 or so to wash them all at the laundromat even though they were already clean and just hadn't been washed in the previous 24 hours. The whole experience was very disappointing...
Read moreI really hate giving bad reviews, especially when it's for places like these. When I started going to Kid to Kid eight years ago, the prices were more affordable than Goodwill and when I would turn gently used or new clothing, toys, equipment I would get a chunk of store credit that helped pay for my growing children. Over the last three years, it has been a complete rip off on prices and I'm lucky to even get $5 in store credit. About six months ago, I swore I wouldn't return because I had left crying over how incredibly rude the employee at the register was to me. I decided to give them a chance and although the employees were incredibly kind (the reason why this isn't a one star review), my store credit was $6. I brought in really expensive kids Nike shoes that looked nearly new, a baby play blanket with toys from Kiwico, kid PJs in good condition, a nice Carter's bear warm suit for snow and a few other items. They said they took 4 items. That means I got $1.50 in STORE CREDIT for the Nike shoes if we're making it equal payments. Not to mention when I shopped there were several kids PJs with rips that they were still wanting $7-$10 for. You would think that with such little store credit, their prices would be lower. I don't want to keep buying from big names stores but it feels I have no choice when the prices dollars higher here. With everything costing a fortune these days, it's disheartening to see a store that I had enjoyed supporting seemingly taking advantage of their customers. I really hope that there will be some changes made in order to make it more affordable for their customers. Till then, I won't waste my time and gas money...
