
Read UPDATE following this post. Horrendous accounting/billing dept!! I have never experienced incompetence to this degree. They loose payments in their system and then send you bills that include what you already have payed. You Can Not reach the accounting dept. They NEVER answer calls, they are NEVER available when you call. The front desk know of the issue and try to transfer over to accounting asap because they can not answer any questions due to the extremely poor record keeping. I signed up this year (2021) in July, they have NO record of that, only when I signed up in 2017. They also have NO record of my initial sign up payment. You can not trust going in, in person to make payments or settle anything with the front desk. I've had to bring in my bank statement to show my payments, feel like it's been resolved, and the accounting dept. still try's to charge me? This used to be a Great gym.
UPDATE: A New Operations manager was hired in December by the name of Joe. After reading my review and looking into the matter he did find that there was a problem with their accounting software in my case. Staff in the billing dept. was minimal and my problem (stated above) persisted longer than it should have. Joe has since hired a full time Customer Accounts Representative and is going through the proper measures to ensure that no other members are or will have the same experience that I did. Read moreI have been going there for two years this time around and back in 2005 and 2006 while I lived here back then. Love the Cardley gym. I have never had a negative personal experience with any of the staff. Yeah the younger staff members aren't always on top of saying bye and have a nice day on your way out of the gym but that doesn't actually bother me. The day care lady is very sweet and I love her no nonsense way about running the day care which I use almost weekly. I have been a professional Athlete for 14 years and feel like it has had everything and more to take care of my needs. I even let my 3 year old chase the requet ball around one of the courts for like 5 min and three employees walked by and did nothing but smile. They very well could have said that wasn't ok but saw that my son and I were having a blast and like I said, just smiled. I also go the Barnett location often as well and yeah the equipment isn't super top notch or great for heavy lifting but it completely serves their purpose and again my son loves going to the day care there. I do like how clean the Barnett one is kept with having disinfectant sprays available in all parts of the gym with wash clothes available as well. Wish the Cardley one had this as well. There are sanitary wipes available though in most areas in the gym where people sweat profusely but wouldn't mind them being everywhere for wiping down equipment. It really has been perfect for my family and myself when I was a mid 20s athlete....
Read moreOriginally we signed up with my wife’s family and kids for a family plan. We were told that this was okay and we used the gym for a quite a while. We were then told our membership price will be increasing, which is understandable having it be a business and needing to turn a profit I get. But only after months of using it we were then told we can’t be on the same plan, even though that was not a secret when originally signed up, and that one couple will keep the old rates and we would get the new rates on our own plan but get the next month free. We were not happy about it specifically because the situation was known and agreed upon and deemed okay. So instead of owning up to their mistake of allowing something that is not standard they would risk losing multiple members. If that policy was known we wouldn’t have signed up most likely. Having worked in a gym signing up people for memberships and training I have made my mistakes and honored them because it was my error. The process of it all was quite frustrating and that is the reasoning for the 2 stars. Being told it’s okay multiple times only then to be charged with out warning of a new plan isn’t the most customer centric way of going about things.
