I'm really sad to write this review because I’ve been here many times and we absolutely love this place. It is one of our favorite places in the world to go to and we’ve always had really good food like amazing food here and on top of that we’ve always had really good service. The waiters are just exceptional and everything has just been top notch until...
That all changed in our visit this week. We were going out for a treat for our birthdays and we of course were in town and want to go to one of our favorite spots where we’ve always had just breathtaking food and we all ordered a steak except for one person who ordered a Seabass... One of the steaks came out blue, rare, mooing still, and then another one came out butterfly fillet ... butterfly a filet is an atrocity, and even when they didn’t see that we didn't eat the food, we didn’t like the food. They didn’t really do anything about it. They still charged us for it. It was pretty sad that you were at a place this nice and something comes out that bad and they don’t fix it. We also ordered the bacon appetizer which we’ve had many times and we’ve had the steaks many times here and they’ve always been good and the bacon appetizers is always been one of our favorites but this time it was just super fatty. It just was not good. I’m not sure what to say here except we probably won’t be back. I think we were just burned so badly.
I can’t believe I paid $65 for steak that I couldn’t even barely eat. I left over half of it on the plate and same with the other person and you don’t want to send it back. They should just make new ones, you know that and they should always tell you how they’re gonna prepare it AND you never ever ever butterfly fillet NEVER
Then they remove just the bacon. That’s the cheapest item off the menu and then brought us some desserts for our birthday which we did not want. We were so pissed by the middle of the dinner that we just wanted to get out of there we threw the desserts away. We threw all the food away. It was ridiculous.
The waitress I can only describe is like a Disney character. She was just passive aggressive and not good at all. It was hard to get her attention. Hard to get her to come over hard to get her to stay there and listen to us. We had to ask the guys who fill up the water for things like bread and stuff refills. It was just a really horrible experience and I still can’t believe we had to pay that kind of money for that kind of bad experience. The only person that liked their food was the person that was the Seabass , even the sweet potatoes which somebody else really really loves and look forward to, they were hard and not mash properly it was just a bad night.
I want a full refund, a complete full refund for us to ever give this place another chance
And like I said before for those of you who are considering going there, we’ve been there many many times and it’s always been exceptional so I do believe this is an exception to the norm. At least I’m hoping that it’s not going down in a bad way and we’ve always enjoyed the atmosphere and like I said before the waiters have always just been exceptional until this night.
I hope this review helps you and I hope it saves you from ruining a special occasion. Thank you so much for taking your time to read this and I hope you have a great...
Read moreI had the pleasure of eating dinner there last night with my husband. First of all I would like for you to know when I made reservations, only outdoor seating was available. Friday afternoon, we get a call and someone canceled and they offered us dine in seating! I thought that was very considerate of them.
The atmosphere of the dining room was dark and elegant. All of the staff were nice and said hello. The seats were very comfortable.
I'm giving it a 5 star for taste and quality of food. The steak cheese egg rolls were really good. The Vidalia onion bleu cheese side was really good and I loathe Bleu cheese normally. The lobster Mac was ok, but I recommend sharing one side or bypass sides altogether. The bone in ribeye was seasoned to perfection and so was the 2 oz. Japanese Waygu that we tried for the first time. I ordered the redfish and fried jambalaya risotto cake. Very very good! We ended the meal with coffee, chocolate Caramel lava cake, and Caramel and pecan bread pudding. The bread pudding was good. Not Voodoo Cafe in Nashville good, but I recommend it. The lava cake was ok. My husband really enjoyed it more. Same thing with the lobster Mac and cheese.
I would give the service a 3 stars. Our waiter was nice but he was not excited about the food. I asked him what to order from the seafood section and he said the Redfish was good. I was hoping the diver scallops would have been a good choice but I didn't want to make a mistake. A lot of one word/sentence answer suggestions. I kept hearing from nearby waiters very detailed descriptions of the entrees and wished they had waited on me. Also we never received bread or our soups. He was nice. I just hope he can learn from the other waiters. When you're passionate about the food at the restaurant you work at, chances are I would order that or order anything...
Read moreI made the mistake of not planning far enough in advance to get a table inside. Memphis was steamy the day of our dinner, but they had outdoor A/C units, which was a pleasant surprise. I can't say I've never had a fine dining experience outside, but it was wonderful. The service was impeccable, the staff, friendly and patient. The menu was explained thoroughly as it was our first time there. We started with delicious signatures cocktails. After we placed our order, a warm sourdough basket of bread was delivered with churned butter topped with flacky salt. I can honestly say it was the best bread I have ever had before dinner. The dough was crisp and tender with a soft yet light interior. We tried to resist requesting more, so we didn't ruin our meal, but we couldn't. We started duck confit and wild mushroom ravioli in the most heavenly sauce. The extra bread came in handly to sop up the luscious reserve. We ordered Wagyu ribeye and center signature filet, accompanied by cheesy truffle mashed potatoes. A special accouterment of the evening was tableside au poive. It was DIVINE. Steaks were cooked perfectly, with a bit of sear on the filet. The meat was tender and juicy. The potatoes were a perfect match. We didn't have room, but had a birthday to celebrate, so we ordered, triple chocolate cake. It was just right, light, yet decadent. We wanted to keep eating because everything was so delicious, but we were too stuffed. Thankfully, our hotel had a mini fridge to store or prized leftovers overnight. We drove 9 hours back to Chicago the next day, just in time to have our meal again! Reminiscing over our weekend in Memphis and one of the best meals we've ever had. We'd go back to Memphis just to visit Porch and Parlor!...
