Not an inclusive environment for children with special needs like autism or adhd. We were told there is a no life jacket policy, and when calling the manager on the phone, they could not accommodate children even with autism. This greatly affected our time and enjoyment at the pool and itās just sad that something like a life jacket at a pool for a child with special needs couldnāt be accommodated. We are actually really nice people, and Iāve never left a negative review anywhere, but right off the bat we were treated like we were crazy for asking about why there is a no life jacket policy. They told us they didnāt know why. We asked if accommodations could be made for children with autism so they called another manager on the phone. The news was delivered in a very abrasive way by the woman who was the manager that day. If a kind, and well thought out answer was given to us, I wouldnāt be leaving this review, but she was not super tactful in her delivery. When dealing with parents of special needs kids, more kindness is needed, even if you canāt accommodate them. I would love to see policies change regarding life jackets at Wakanda for everyone, but especially for anyone requesting accommodations for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery clean facility and the pool is great. HOWEVER here are just some of the things we and others got in trouble for, added fact is there was only about 20 swimmers in the entire facility because it was cool out today: diving into the deep end (because I dove from the side of the pool and not the diving board, and I was the only guest in that whole end of the pool). Then again because there is no (free swimming) in the deep end. You must immediately exit after diving. Following my 6 year old up to the water slide platform (only one guest per platform I was told). Entering the floating obstacles from the wrong side even tho there was no sign saying what side to start from. Being past the blue line on the bottom of the pool when someone was on the obstacle. Going 1 step past the obstacles because that's where the water slide is. Exiting the pool walking towards my child when they announced the lifeguards needed a 15 minute break. (Was told I could not go to my child and I had to use the closest ladder to exit the pool). I have never in my life been to a pool and heard so many wistle blows! Definitely not going back to this place. Which is an absolute shame because it is a really...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreItās a nice place however, the fact that they do not allow children to wear life vests is just awful! A child can drown in seconds and 7 life guards for 100 people something can easily happen in the blink of an eye! It takes a split second for a child to drown and be missed by life guards! Even the Eau Claire pool allows vests in the shallow section but not in the deep which I can understand children who canāt swim shouldnāt be there. Iām sure they do their jobs wonderful but I refuse to leave my childās life in the hands of a stranger. Even with my eyes on my children every second I do not feel comfortable them swimming without one because unfortunately accidents do happen. Iām sorry but because of this I will not return. I can understand no tubes, toys etc but no life jackets? This is something that...
