This "green" is an up and coming, changing with the times sort of space. There are events galore sponsored by the city, religious groups, special interest groups, etc. During the summer, there is a Farmer's Market (June-October on Saturday mornings as of 2023). There are a few nearby restaurants and the library and train/bus station are all within walking distance. It is handicapped accessible. They have concerts with some retaining wall style seating. There are walking paths. Shade is developing with trees that were planted within the last few years. There's no playground on the green, but not too many towns have that on their "green". During times of heavy rain/snow, the waterway through the park is designed to rise and prevent additional flooding in local neighborhoods. It works most of the time. New buildings have popped up on 2/4 sides of the green. It's a work in progress, progress for good. I would recommend this area if you plan to come for an event or if you want to...
Read moreThe flood project turned to a park is a wonderful place to take a stroll. The beautiful arched bridge that spans the center of the park during the day is very nice. However, the arches within the arch bridge at night are beautiful and elegant as a proper lady, though the Green is closed after dusk. The park is kept clean of garbage and the pathways are nice to walkabout to get some excersize, though the Green isn't quite large enough to stretch out your legs without going over the same walkways over again. Overall the Meriden Green is Very nice and comfortable and you would never know that it's true purpose is for flood control. Great job City...
Read moreThe Meriden Green is an absolute gem nestled in the heart of our city. With its lush, velvety grass and picturesque brook, it's truly a sight to behold. I've spent many delightful days here, enjoying summer concerts and picnics with family and friends. It's remarkable how this central city park offers such tranquility and beauty right in our own neighborhood. Meriden Green is without a doubt one of the best urban parks I've ever had the pleasure of visiting.
