I decided to come to Arizona hair company one day out of the blue after having not gotten my hair properly styled in about 6 years. I was nervous but excited and the staff were all very kind and polite and made me feel welcome.
The same can be said about my stylist Erica, she was friendly and congenial it made me feel very comfortable for the beginning part of the experience. I showed her several pictures of the cut and color I was looking to emulate, and expressed that I had no interest in red copper or bronze highlights in my hair. In her Swatch book, I showed her which hair colors I was looking to use for my highlights, pointing only to 1 sample in the Violet undertone category and one sample in the ash undertone category. I expressed numerous times throughout our discussion that I was looking for a cool or neutral Brown or blue brown color for my highlights. I thought we had a good conversation and I was under the impression she understood what I wanted.
the first set of foils went fine, after the rinse I could tell immediately by looking in the mirror that this was not at all what I signed up for. Without me saying anything she proceeded to essentially redo the color, same initially that it was tricky with curly hair because you never know how much hair you're actually highlighting, also saying that it's difficult to mix colors in the back room because the lighting is very poor which I assumed she meant that made it hard to see what colors you are selecting. I sat through the second set of color, having been in the salon for almost 2 hours at this point, and at that time realized my evening plans were in Jeopardy of being compromised by the length of time I had spent there. During this time I also had mentioned that I was interested in a facial and eyebrow wax but that request went completely unnoticed.
After shampooing my hair she hastily proceeded with the haircut, although the cut itself looks nice I felt like the whole process was rushed and like there was not enough attention being paid to detail and fine-tuning of the style. I asked her questions about how I could style my hair like this at home and they were answered with vague non-specific replies that were not exactly helpful.
In the end I didn't have an opportunity to request any color correction because as I mentioned before I had an appointment and I was running out of time, but had the circumstances been different I would absolutely have asked her to correct the color that she used. Additionally despite having to sit through an entire round of color correction due to her mistake I still paid full price for the cut and color.
overall the experience was not the worst I've had at a salon, but I felt like my stylist completely ignored my request and acted on her own agenda and decisions in regards to the coloring she put in my hair. She was truly pleasant to work with for the most part but as a stylus I feel like the most important element of your job is listening to your clients requests. I probably would recommend this location for a haircut, but I would say head elsewhere if you want a truly excellent experience...
Read moreI went in initially for a consultation with Lori Lynn to talk about a perm. I wanted to express some concerns I had about breakage and make sure she felt comfortable doing perms. She was very nice and told me she has been doing perms for 30 years and guaranteed I wouldn’t have breakage. I went for my perm appointment a few days later and it definitely felt like she was in a hurry. The salon closed at five and my appointment was at 245pm. She wrapped my hair very quickly and in turn there was a lot of tugging and pulling during the entire process (I believe this is why there was so much breakage) but she was done start to finish by 530pm. I asked what I should buy for my hair and she only recommended Roux, which I bought, paid my bill and tipped 30%. Well, when I washed my hair a couple of days later I was felt a weird spot on top of my head. I scheduled a trim bc she said she would do one after my perm and never did, probably the time issue. When she asked what side do I part, I explained I had a spot on my left side that had breakage and I wanted to avoid that area, she switched sides and asked no questions. I didn’t put two and two together until a week later when I discovered numerous spots where there was breakage, from the front of my head, the sides and back to the crown area. I was pretty devastated to say the least so I called and explained that there were so many areas with breakage. The only thing she offered was deep conditioning, I explained that I didn’t understand how that was going to fix the problem and she didn’t have a response either. Not once did she ask me to come in so she could take a look at the issue, she informed me people lose hair on their head (up to 80 hairs) everyday and it grows back just fine. She also tried to blame it on not using name brand products) which I do already. She asked what I wanted and I explained that I should be compensated in some way considering it’s going to take many, many months for my hair to grow back and I will have to style according to the areas missing hair. She said she needed to get back to a client and would call me back and that was a couple of weeks ago. I don’t feel it’s good for business to have a unhappy customer and not even bother returning the call you said you would. I am VERY disappointed with the breakage from my perm and won’t use Lori Lynn again. I thought I did my homework doing a consultation but it wasn’t enough. So BEWARE!!! Just bc someone has 30 plus years experience, you can still get...
Read moreToday I took my 3 year old son in to get a hair cut. He's been getting haircuts since he was 7 months old. Never, not once, has he ever cried from a buzzer or from a stylist. I've never seen this woman before at this location. Admittedly, we have had some bad hair styles at this location, but we've never complained and always continue to come back here because of the amazing customer service we always receive. Don't get me wrong, I still love this location and all its stylists! Except the one today. When she came over to bring us back to a chair, she looked annoyed before even seeing my son. My son is very ticklish, buzzers cause him to cringe a little and he continually says "It tickles me!" While giggling, but he is in no way difficult. And I've never received any kind of discouraging comment from a stylist that said she couldn't cut his hair because of this, except for her. This woman, either couldn't care less about her actual job or is just flat out inexperienced with children, and should state so. She repeated stopped cutting, gave an annoyed sigh and said I can't cut his hair. After I offered to help hold my son in place, she said even you holding him isn't going to do anything. And continued to grab him aggressively. My son eventually began screaming and crying saying it hurts. I mentioned several times "it's okay we'll leave after this" to her, she kept cutting hold my son as he was screaming. After she buzzed his head completely, which isn't what I wanted and why I wanted her to stop, she said "goodbye." The haircut was not complete, there is a huge chunk by his temple shorter than the rest of his hair, and longer chunks all throughout his hair. And she walked out, I've never felt unwelcome at this place by anyone prior, and have always had good experiences. We paid and I still tipped her 15%. Which I'm not sure why. Afterwards as I was in my car, I asked my son why he was crying and screaming, and he said it was because she was hurting him. I had to go home and take scissors to fix his hair on my own. Did his sideburns, tapered his neckline, and fixed the longer hair strands. I can't explain my frustrated with this new stylist who clearly doesn't give a flying f how she treats her clients, or a small child. If I return because as I said I still love everyone else at this location, I will never allow her near my son again. She should not be in an industry where she has is required to be around customers, because I guarantee she will leave a bad taste...
