Before booking a cruise it would be best to look up the age of the ship, if it's over 15 years, don't expect things to go as planned.
This is a bit of a read, but if you can relate to any of the points, kindly like this post. Let's save would be cruisers from a potential disappointment we got stuck in
Carnival Conquest is an impressive ship, but the delays and itinerary changes due to equipment breaking down is extremely disappointing
Embarkation was delayed 3 hours, I had to make arrangements to stay elsewhere for my family before heading out to the port. I received an email a little past midnight.
Nobody can tell you which port you're leaving from unless you get to the port of Miami, if you're booking an Uber just tell them F which is the furthest one and hop off early if you see your ship docked in D or E.
People on the dock and the ship were very pleasant, pretty much the only saving grace for this cruise.
4.We haven't even left Miami at this point. Captain announces we are on the way.l and we are being credited 50 USD per stateroom to use onboard for our trouble. What's the catch? Itinerary change.
Day 2 was supposed to be Princess Cays- scrap that- no more day at the beach-i don't think 50USD is enough to cover a missed beach day in the Bahamas. But I won't let that ruin the rest of my vacation (I'm sure they have good things lined up, so I thought)
Day 2 became the Cruising itinerary - stayed on board, watched shows. Our Cruise director Gabby was great. "Don't forget to sign up for the tour behind the Fun" - my son is obsessed with ships - main reason we went on this cruise. I immediately went to guest services to sign up. Only to be told that the tour is already over- and that announcing it on the show was a mistake. (They had a poster up right by the desk btw) I wanted to argue with the concierge, I held my tongue. no drama, I'm on vacation. (I won't let that ruin the rest of my vacation (I'm sure they have good things lined up, so I thought)
7, Day 3 was supposed to be cruising day, swapped out for Nassau straw market and shopping(OG Day 4 Itinerary) went for a walkabout and souvenir shopping. Got back to the ship around noon and enjoyed a relaxing afternoon on the deck.
8.Check your account summary in your app, I got charged 64USD per occupant -for each person. For gratuity. 15 goes to the stateroom crew, 30 to food services and the rest to special services.
You can dispute the charges, I didn't. The crew on this ship deserve every bit of that money. Working as hard as they do, and being as pleasant as they can be for already disgruntled guests is more than what they're paid to do.
Day 4. New to the Itinerary, Freeport. Shopping- which we already did yesterday. Spent 45 minutes off-ship and back in our stateroom listening to the crew conduct emergency drills and eventually deciding to write a review, because I don't think they have anything else good lined up.
To summarize, this was a terrible cruise and I didn't get half of what I thought I was paying for. But I was surrounded by a very warm and respectful crew on board(except for the guest relations guy who tried to upsell me an excursion after being told the ship tour announcement was a mistake).
As for my underage companions who didn't pay their way, aside from missing a tour of the ship and a proper day at the beach, it's another trip they have good memories of.
First picture is what I paid for
Second picture is what I got
Third and fourth pictures are memories my...
Read moreHonestly it were my 1st time ever in my life taking a cruise my daughter surprised I with a trip for Mother's day. It were a beautiful thing and the Bahamas was extremely gorgeous the hospitality from the lyft drivers, taxi drivers, even the ppl that live there were way much welcoming than the cruise ship staff. To be our 1st cruise facing our fear just I and my daughter the hospitality from some of the guests were horrible!!! The ice machines were without ice, running slow, drink machines not working, food servers at certain food place had only 1 or 2 ppl working them to say it were a ship. Some bartenders were rude and charging so many ppl for drinks they didn't purchase when I've order 1 drink and paid but charged again as of I bought another drink. I were 1 of them and there were 100s of folks experienced this issue on Carnival Conqest cruise ship. If u asked or told them not the issues they would just say go on the other side and when u go over there others were experiencing the same issues. I refused to purchase more drinks after that experience. The casino was OK and paying out to SOME folks just wasn't I or child luck I'll say but they do take u fast and bonuses on the dragon links or lighting were hard yet paying SOME folks. I saw folks paid off the buffalo's roulette, dice game also. The slide for the kids were out and many kids were there with their parents, father, grandparents etc. The pool area at night in the back where they have movie night had a sewerage odor ONLY at night that smelled real bad!!! You had to go that way for the buffet and all the other food especially at night when the pizza spot is open the latest on the ship! Upon arriving the room service attendant by the name of Henry were our attendant we went to room or belongings were not there. Left came back they were sitting at the door and that's how I found out who our room attendant person. I asked him why were our bags just left in hall at door when anyone could have just walked up and took out belongings. He stated he were go out them in there I stated Sir u couldn't was go do it cause when u bought it to cabin u could have open door and out it in there. I told him that was not right at all and that I didn't want his service I'll clean our cabin myself the days we here. I'll come get the things we need to keep room clean and up to standards. I took pictures of our belongings in front door and he saw that's when he stated he was go put our stuff in room and then tried asking can he put it in there etc etc. What I can say is that u will be entertained everyday through out the day and just being on the cruise for our 1st time was a beautiful sight besides the other things. Now I know what it feels like to take a cruise and definitely will be taking my grandkids and both daughters on one God day the same. Just was disappointed in the hospitality and experience over all ship beautiful with minor errors. The Bahamas 🇧🇸 made me feel welcomed with open arms!!!! After hearing stories from some of the employers I understand they anger and frustration within even though its not the guests fault what their dealing with and experiencing my heart and prayers go out to them. We bless to live and be a United States of America 🇺🇸 citizens!!! Be Thankful even through the bad/good living here. Next time the Casino will be good to us I'm...
Read moreThis is long overdue, for starters the drink package is a complete rip off for the three days or any days really because they still charge you $2.00 in taxes even though you’ve already paid $500 for the UNLIMITED PACKAGE which is limited to up to 15 drinks and they still charge you for sodas or fresh made drinks even though you’ve already paid for the full package. Then they added 4 extra room service charges on my account and I only had room service 2 times. They charged me for shot glasses when I never visited a souvenir shop AT ALL; trust me I don’t like carnival that much to keep a memory let alone a shot glasses that cost 18 bucks. Then they charged me for extra margaritas when I had the drink package and drank the same type of margarita the WHOLE TRIP. Then let’s also add the fact they added additional tips to the bill, firstly I paid all tips prior to boarding so I shouldn’t have had any extra tips vis card because my man CASHED TIPPED everyone. We should’ve only had two room service charges , one spa charge, and then stupid taxes they make you pay when you first board. I wouldn’t suggest the drinking package because you’ll still end up paying more money and just buying the drinks would be cheaper honestly and I have been told by CARNIVAL STAFF they’ll get your money any way possible so please be mindful . I wrote in because I had 6 pages worth of charges and wanted to dispute them with carnival. Kaitlyn W a customer care person was not the best and told me to settle for the charges and then tried to show me the bill I already disputed which is how I got to speak with her and then once Telling her some of these charges are not correct and she told me to settle I got angry with her and she disconnected the call due to her not being able to have me settle a extra $400 tab when we already paid over 2100 for the cruise plus cash tips. Although I am going to dispute these charges with my bank and be sure to get my funds back because we have proof of all purchases thanks to our meta glasses and vlog and other camera devices used during the entire trip, everything is documented even bathroom breaks and other things (literally the entire Friday - Monday morning is non stop filming and rolling ) so I’m sure carnival will have a time trying to dispute footage evidence. As for Kaitlyn she’s not a good representative for customers especially after they already paid and is only looking to get you to settle your account after they rob you blindly and then want to keep your money. Watch your cards or have a secure card or make sure you have notifications on everything and write down what you spend because they will lie to you and add more charges...
