Final Extended Stay Americas review as we have parted ways and I am letting all know - AVOID. If you are in the area you have a MUCH better option at ES Sonesta across the way (indeed just checking in I have met five different room renters saying how they are so glad to be there vs Extended Stay. See my history below. I am regularly in Cleveland and pay in full and treat things right. Indeed as you can see I initially liked this place (despite its delapidation and checkered, weed smoking guests) and its manager. It quickly fell apart after my second visit and crazy accusations. Now back in Cleveland and tried a different Extended Stay, found I was on a blacklist!!! Could not be happier as it ended a toxic relationship with a sub-par chain and let me get to know the superior in every way ES Sonesta across the way. Avoid this trap and their staff. You won't be alone, seems the consensus amongst those who were hostages. You can do much better - AVOID.
My last review at Extended Stay and its manager Jessica Lund. The week noted below is now behind us. My wife does crafts with green nail polish and was working the last night that we were there, so it was on the table. Having left I was surprised to receive an email that not only was tge polish there but my wife was accused of smoking. My wife only smokes outdoors (and rarely) and follows this ruke religiously. Indeed when we arrived she said there were burn marks on the carpet and furniture and I shoukd alert management. We have decided that Extended Stay will no longer be our place in Clevrland - and I must say (I had to buy my own silverware and a toaster, and the coffee pot was junk) we were inclined that way anyways. I noted an increade in vagrancy around the area and the staff seemed completely uninformed (one even said I work at another place and just filling in). Know it is a tough job but things are definitely slipping so before yiu book check current reviews. No shortage of quality options in Cleveland. I for one will be doing better going forward. Good luck Jessica.
Just back in Cleveland for a week with my wife. Back at Extended Stay, my go to place for its larger rooms with full kitchen. This trip I put my wife on a plane from LaGuardia and drove in, so she arrived much earlier. C Suite take notice, LaLa was on duty when my wife arrived and when I got in hours later. LaLa is a treasure, pleadant, helpful, efficient. She got my wife in early and when I arrived checked me in and added another day due to business that came up. She also prepared me a care box with basic key kitchen utensils. It is folk like LaLa that make a good shop great, keep up the great work. We...
Read moreDo not stay there. Irresponsible property manager. Today is 6/24/2025.
I booked a room Sep 23 – Oct 3, 2024 for a business trip because of the location. Immediately after checking in, I noticed dirty carpet and very strong moldy smell throughout the room. Asked the front desk to change a room but was told fully booked. The front desk guy apologized and proposed a full refund for me to book other places in town. I accepted. The 10 minutes stay turned into the 10-month difficulty:
I called the hotel every single month during different time in a day but couldn't get a hold of the property manager. The Priceline did the same thing a few time but couldn't talk to him either. So Priceline eventually gave up and told me to continue to try. Because of this, the front desk had to leave him a message every time and told me the manager would call me back the next day but it never happened in my last 10 attempts within last 10 months.
Had to called the hotel chain customer service at the beginning of June 2025. They promised a 48 hours call back but that didn't happened either. Today I called again and the hotel chain customer service noticed that that property manager closed the case because of identification issue. None of us understood the meaning of it. After hearing the story, the customer service reopened the case and sent to the property manager. Hopefully this time he could spending some to look into it. It has been a very frustrating experience.
Update: today (6/25/2025) I received a phone call from someone claimed to be the general manager named Jay. This was the very first call I got from them in last 10 months after I called each month to check the process of the refund. However, he claimed that my check-in was normal and the system showed that I finished the whole stay. The factor was that I handed in all the room card keys 10 min after checked in when the front desk proposed to give me a full refund to find another hotel in town. How was it possible that I finished the whole stay and checked out on the last day? Jay suggested that he would check with his supervisor and call me back next week.
Update: this morning (6/26/2025), the business owner called. After knowing the incident, he apologized and promised a refund. Later he updated the progress of the refund through text message. The business owner is polite...
Read moreThis was one of the worst stays at a hotel in my life. I drove across town after speaking on the phone to the front desk lady 10 mins before i got there. She told me I could come & that they have a few rooms available. Her name is Nina.. When i arrived no one was at the front desk i waited about 10 mins no one came. I started calling the front desk while waiting at the front desk just to see if i could get someone to come to the front. No one came. A hour had passed by now and I called the front desk 1000 times and called customer service reps and they proceeded to call front desk as well along with calling the manager person number. I spoke to 3 different reps that night and 2 of them hung up on me to pretend the phone disconnected because they knew it was nothing they could do and the 3rd rep was decent enough to let me know there is nothing else they could do. So after that call I waited and yelled “hello” “hellooo”. Still no one came. This is a long story but to keep the rest short I eventually called the cops because at this point it been an hour and half and im worried about the lady now and they come and jump the desk and find the lady in the back sleeping. She claimed she didn’t hear the phone and was busy… that was the excuse.. and then she asked me did i still want to get a room… no remorse or anything… Oh also the tub was clogged and had to take a shower while it gradually filled up till it was going to overflow so I had to rush out.. some will say why didn’t i just get another hotel and instead of wait that long. Is because it was my last resort everything else was full. I had not choice but to wait or be without room.. this was from was 1am-3:50am in the morning dealing with this btw. Its more to the story but ill be writing a book. The customer service was terrible and they don’t care about your stay there or your...
