THE BRIDAL BLUES!! 0 STARS I will NEVER EVER stay at this hotel EVER AGAIN IN LIFE!! No matter where the location is. I would not suggest this establishment to anyone, RUN!!! I booked this hotel the day before my wedding to have all the bridesmaids and my mother get ready for the big day with me. On September 18th, 2024 I arrived at this hotel, paid for my room and then was directed to the location to where my room was at. When I arrived at this room it was all the way in the back at some brown building that looked nothing like the rooms in the front and it said “sleep lab” on the building. I immediately went back to the front desk and spoke with the lady that checked me in, her name was Diana. I explained to Diana that the room was not the room I booked, I called twice to confirm that the room I was booking was indeed the suite with the upstairs and the downstairs and I was yes on both occasions. Long story short Diana could care less about the mixup, the tears or that it was the day before my wedding. She also proceeded to tell me that they did not have any more of the suites I wanted available and even if they did it would be an additional $323!!! I asked to speak with the manager, Christine Fernandez but she never came out to speak with me. All of this to eventually be told that they had one more of those rooms available for me with the additional cost of course and at this moment I had no choice but to pay AGAIN it was THE DAY BEFORE MY WEDDING. Got to the room, was VERY disappointed. The room had stains everywhere, the ceiling fan was so dusty and had a water bottle sitting on top of it. The walls had food splattered everywhere. I was not happy but I tried to make the best of it. There was no accommodation for anything, well not for me at lease. I was made aware that there was an older Caucasian woman who came in NOT wanting the bigger room they gave her because she was worried about the cost and then Diana informed her that the upgrade was complimentary and there would be no additional cost to her…. Yeah so anywho later that night Diana told us that we couldn’t talk outside because “this was a nice property”. She was indeed informed that she could not my any means tell us not to talk but we will keep it down. On the 20th we checked out to go on our mini-moon and I checked out early of course because I could not wait to get out of there. Made sure to take pictures and clean up after ourselves. Now fast forward two weeks later, I called this hotel about my incidental fee and was told by a young lady by the name of Shadonna that my room was trashed and that they kept the fee. Now I am highly upset because I know for a fact this was not true. Shadonna then told me that they had pictures and I informed her that so did I, I asked to speak to manager again I was not able to because she refused to get on the phone, some how she was always in a meeting. A few moments later I was called back by Shadonna who told me that she was sorry and that she had my room mixed up with another room.. Weeks had gone by and I never received any information about the incidental fee, the manager never got back with me. Oh I even had a young lady by the name of Monique who lied and said she was the manager the first time I spoke with her. Now we are in October and I am being told by Shadonna that they refunded me the incidental fee on Sep 21st and then I was told I was not charged a fee then I had them send me the invoice and noticed that they had me checked out on Sep 21st and charged me an additional fee for this as well. Again asked to speak to the manger, never heard from Christine Fernandez. I was not even here in Cleveland REMEMBER I left on the 20th of September. I ended up calling a different location I clearly was getting no help what’s so ever with these employees. I called the location in Westlake, Oh. I spoke with a woman by the name of Rebecca who listened to everything and filed my complaint. All of this in the end to be refunded $59.15!! Don’t walk RUN!! Book at your own risk!! Oh and they’re stingy when it...
Read moreThe only good thing about this property is the location is convenient and the rooms are spacious. Other than that, I will NEVER stay at this property again! I have provided pictures as evidence. We had no other choice but to stay in the suite because there were no other suites available and it was the holiday weekend and no other hotels in the area had rooms available. So we cleaned the suite from top to bottom in order to make the best of the stay.
We checked into Suite 424 at 4:30pm and we noticed the floors were disgusting and needed to be vacuumed. We called the front desk to ask if housekeeping can be sent over for cleaning but were told the staff was gone for the day. I asked if they had a vacuum that we could use and they provided us with one but we had to go to the front desk to get it because there was no one on staff that could bring it to the room.
EVERYTHING in the room needed to be thoroughly cleaned!!
There was pet hair everywhere, especially going up the stairs to the loft area. We had to sweep the stairs, clean the baseboards and the air vent.
The upstairs loft looked like it had not been cleaned in months. There was dust and pet hair on all the surfaces and lamps. There was a random lamp on the floor that was also dirty. There was a used dirty rag that was on the landing, I’m hoping it was from the person who cleaned the room and not from the previous guests (DISGUSTING).
The kitchen counters were dirty and had food pieces on it. The fridge looked like it had not been cleaned in months. There was food spilled inside and also had pet hair in it. There were cups and trash left under the sink where the trash can was kept. The microwave had food pieces left in it. There were no kitchen utensils to use, but I guess that’s normal because management said they don’t provide any after we asked for some.
The chairs from the dinette set needed to be cleaned. They had food pieces stuck to them. The electrical outlet by the table looked sketchy but it worked.
The carpet everywhere was disgusting!! It needs to be ripped out and reinstalled.
The downstairs bathroom was disgusting!! The towel bar was barely hanging on to the wall. The door had kiss prints on it (YUCK). The toilet had not been cleaned. There was urine on the back in the toilet and on the floor!! There was hair on the floor and stuck underneath it. The shower still had soap scum in it. Overall, the bathroom was DISGUSTING!! We cleaned everything from top to bottom. Even the ceiling had water spots and marks on it.
The general smell of the room was stale. After we cleaned and used bleach and fabulous on all surfaces, we still needed air fresheners to make it smell clean.
There were items left in some of the closets and they also needed to be swept out and smelled strange.
We couldn’t figure out how to turn the large ceiling fan light on. So we had to use a chair to stand on and grab the string with tongs. The office said it was controlled by a light switch but we tried every switch in the room and nothing worked. So it was a hazard to have to turn the light off and on.
I’m sure I’m missing something but it’s so much to list. We made several runs to the Dollar Tree and Walmart just to get cleaning supplies to get the room clean and make the best of the weekend.
I called the office on the morning of checkout because we didn’t stay the entire night on our last day. I spoke with the manager and was told that since we stayed, our money couldn’t be refunded. I explained that I initially complained of Friday when we checked in but was told there was no housekeeping staff there and no there rooms to switch to. There was also no management there. I was told I could come back to the office the following morning to speak to someone. So at that point we decided to clean everything and try to make the best of it. I’m very disappointed that management could not refund me for the stay. Now I have to open an official claim with corporate and write this extremely detailed review to hopefully...
Read moreJust finished a late July 2025 week.at my home awsy from.home in Cleveland. Even added a day just now and Micharl and Jeremy (top notch front desk stsff) arranged so the extension extended ecisting stay. Staff comtinues to impress - see my many reviews and shout outs below. Only sad item is no pool in 2025, next year I expect. On the other hand the landscaping attention has been noticeable with the picnic area/grill getting great attention. Place looking great and management slowly implememting upgrades while accomodating a full house. Keep up the good work.
Getting packed and heading out after a week at Sonesta Simply Suites. Having come here for years I have learned the General Manager is a key role in keeping things right. Wanted (C-Suite take note) to finish with a shout out to De'Shanae the Assistant General Manager that Michael Standberry is training. Michael is overseeing excellent renovations to each room and our stay this time noticed and appreciated (to the extent that a renovated room is our favorite of the multiple options. Michael is as good at staffing and training too as De'Shanae is fantastic!! GO!
June 2025 Update. Diana still on duty so desk service perfect and like rerurning to old friends. Will note that unlike last time (dirty rug), broken closet doors, garbage disposal not working, dank) this time room had new wood floors, frsh paint, closet doors removed, everything working). Michael Standberry, frpm corporate - he is here training a new manager - is on top of things and told me that is the goal eventually for all the units. Michael is on top of tjings and I know things can only get better (such as pool which is still being attended and not yet open - though new deck furniture is already here. All in all (given the eminently fair price and good location) all that is required is attention to detail and Michael and his team are the correct folk for the job. C-suite take note. Home away from home any time we have to be up in Cleveland. Thanks.
Just finished my week at my favorite home away from home in Cleveland. New manager is doing great job but special shout out to Diana at front desk. The best.
Update from my Cleveland home away from home. Only sad news is Evan the
manager has moved (reviews are reverse chronological from many stays but see his shout outs below) on and the new manager, Christine is awsome! Desk staff still fantastic. Must note new lobby floor in annex building AND the pool is closed but this year getting a thorough cleaning (which as I was here for Memorial Day and chronicled Evans
attention to reopening a pool that was NOT prepared like this year) is another sign of attention to detail. I can only repeat: great management, friendly team, and attention to upkeep. What more can one ask. Still my go to place on the Lake.
Back at ES Suites and a shout out to Evan the great manager - if you do things right they will come. Photo (July 27, 2024) of gang enjoying the beautiful.and clean pool. Only downside is the place is so well run it is hard to get a room. But no complaints when hard work is rewarded.
OK had the good luck to be residing at Sonesta ES Suites as the pool was reopened for the summer. The before/after contrast is striking, but real praise in this review is to Manager Evan and staff (I believe there was a strict schedule for chemical treatments and desk team covered overnight feeding needs). This job had Evan doing work every day (which I also captured). Having visited MANY Extended Stay hotels this dedication and attention makes this a uniqued, top class place (particukarly given the price). Perhaps not Goose Down pillows and chocolates on your pillow but management focuses relentlessly on the basic operating needs. BTW landscaping leading to summer shines too. Quite pleasant compared to a high rise cookie...
