I spoke with a doctor about a preexisting condition of Chronic Veinous Insufficiency that causes staph infection in my blood stream and bloodclots in both my legs to where ive been hospitalized twice for weeks at a time. First time i went to an er over it they gave me oral antibiotics and blood thinners which after the antibiotics ran out it weakend my immune system and flared up way worse causing weeping hives to cover my face and bodu causing excruciating pain. My visit at your hospital i was only prescribed antibiotic for seven days. I offered paperwork from one of the hospital and from a vascular specialist in columbus i had been seeing,( they told me to go to an ER immediately)which he seemed to brush off and the nurse told me elequis wasnt for blood clots. Im in town in a recovery program. My ongoing health problems has caused me deep deppression, suicidal ideations, and opiod addiction as a form of pain relieve and escapism. Im clean now but concerned about my condition flaring up to the point it was before. I feel like since i said i was on suboxone i was viewed as a worthless junkie trying to scam drugs and brushed off. If my condition worsens i will consider speaking with an attorney concerning malpractice causing pain and suffering. All i wanted was help . This almost killed me before according to physicians at Riverside hospital in Columbus. I was told my blood was not septic without any blood tests. I've been here before and i know what follows. Its a shame you're staff seems to paint people with broad strokes instead of on an individual basis. I've lost my mother and brother this year and it would truly be terrible for my sister to lose her only living family member ( me) do to what i feel was misdiagnosis and spite by your staff. Im positive there are very capable well meaning people under your employ , unfortunately i think i met a couple that might not fall into those categories. If and when my condition gets bad again my hope is that i go to a different hospiital where care is provided a doctors listen to their patients past experiences as individuals instead of trash that needs to be set on the curb. This may seem a little hyperbolic but from my vantage point and what ive been through this past year it rings true. I hope your day finds you in the company of those who give you comfort and love. Read moreThis was my second experience at this Kettering Hospital location. The first time wasn't superb but this time I was highly impressed with my care. This was because of my nurse. I believe her name of Holly. She was so nice and you could tell she actually cared about helping others. She didn't treat me like I was just another patient at her job that she was required to take care of. It wasn't one specific incident. It was the whole time I was there. She talked to me step by step what she was doing, what side effects may come, and stayed on top of asking if I add any questions. The reason why I say she is so amazing compared to every other employee I came in contact with is because even though my visit wasn't a life threatening experience she still made my issue just as important. An example of what I mean by this : My doctor came in my room for his first encounter and asked me what was going on. I explained the best way I could and he responded with " well there's nothing to worry about. Your tests show no evidence of anything severe so we are going to give you some fluids and some medication to help." This make me a little irritated inside but I was in so much pain I didn't say anything to correct him. But excuse me Sir but I just got here and there hasn't even been 1 test done. Unless he is referring to my blood pressure they took in triage. His demeanor and his physical appearance towards me was as if he didn't care and just wanted me to get me out of there. I was just another patient to him and he was just rehearsing his normal line. Even with that being said, Holly stood right there with a smile on her face sort of reminding me it will be okay. She is definitely an asset to this hospital and deserves recognition for not just doing her job, but going above and beyond and showing care and empathy regardless. You don't find that often in the medical industry now a days it seems to like most employees become like a robot just trying to finish their shift. Thanks...
Read moreI went in for a concussion with my nose bleeding from a hard hit to the bridge. They were understaffed so the wait time just to get back into the ER was close to 2 and 1/2 hours. The assistant who came in to see me and do a short neurological assessment seemed rather confused as to why I was in pain while he was pushing on my nose. The wait between visits from nurses and the doctor were quite long. I was given a shot of fentanyl as a pain killer and I didn't know how I'd react to it so after some minor hallucinating, I called the nurse's desk and was told they'd send someone to check on me. About 15 minutes later, since nobody had shown up, I called again and it still took some time for a nurse to appear. I don't remember what her name was, but she was very helpful and the only good part of my visit. After some time, I was taken for a CT scan and then later after that, the doctor had returned to give the final verdict and send me on my way. It wasn't until after I'd gotten in the car for my fiance to drive me home and gotten a few miles up the highway that I was called and told that my chart showed I had a small fracture in my nose bone. Why wouldn't I have been told that by the doctor before I was allowed to leave? Despite having issues walking, which the nurse that took me for my CT scan realized and chose to wheel my bed to the proper room, I wasn't even offered a wheelchair to get out to the car. I was told i could go, the staff cleared out of my room, and my fiance and her parents had to help walk me out...
