Middletown Location: I'm not sure why, but waitresses at Bob Evans are either super nice or kinda snippy or rude. Is there no "normal or in-between?" Normal would be helpful, efficient and not have a superior attitude. I respect you and the job you do, and I appreciate how hard you work. I used to waitress in my younger days. I dont hold myself higher than anyone. We all put our pants on one leg at a time.
Apparently, they can't make well-done or crisp toast bc they have only a "Walmart toaster" bc that is all the management has sprung for? I didn't need those details. I just wanted crisp toast. Airing house money problems or opinions about how management spends on the restaurant would not be my idea of professional. Oh, and there ARE settings to increase toasting time. Even on "Walmart toasters."
Upgraded my potatoes to the "Rancher Crispy Potatoes." The picture on the table really sold these. Of course, they arrived looking somewhat different from the pictures on the table and menu. Not to mention... cold. My waitress was in a hurry for me to leave and wanted to drop the check as she was finally asking if everything is ok. I said, "those are cold," and pointed to the potatoes which had shredded cheese that was obviously not melted. She took the dish to nuke them. I'm sorry, but food changes once it has been nuked. Not the same consistency, and hot ranch dressing (which was on top of them) does NOT taste good to me. I ate a few pieces and then requested a box to take them home to try and "fix" them, but I'm not holding out much hope since the 2nd main ingredient after the new potatoes (based on quantity), ranch dressing, pretty much has drowned them. If I ever get these again, the ranch needs to be left off or served on the side. Sour cream would be so much better.
Spoke to the chef on my way out. He was running the cash register and said he is one of the managers. I gave him my input on the potatoes. He said that it is difficult to come up with the finished product of "crispy" potatoes and have it warm enough to melt the shredded cheddar cheese. I didn't follow the reasoning at all. Why market or offer these if they can't be produced?
Spent $8.20 for 1 egg (cooked correctly!) soggy toast, 2 pieces of (somewhat greasy) bacon, and the above-mentioned potatoes. Had water to drink. A good value and more than enough to fill my stomach. Just really disappointed about those potatoes.
With regard to consistent food prep and delivering menu items as they are marketed, Bob's still hasn't redeemed themselves in my book. Maybe one more chance.
An aside: no one can choose who sits near them in a restaurant, of course, but the foul-mouth of a young woman sitting next to me was enough of a reason to high-tail it out of there. Killer is... They were sitting there discussing church. SIGH.

North College Hill location: Waitress was great, but the food wasn't as ordered. Asked for homefries. Well done. They were not cooked beyond prep stage, so I sent them back, and they redid them. The pancakes are terrible. Gummy and not fully cooked. Sorry... they aren't as good as Perkins or mine at home. The omelet was great. I did build my own with spinach, monterey Jack cheese, and...

We’ve been to this store plenty of times before—even during their busiest hours—and NEVER had a problem. But this last experience was absolutely outrageous, and we will never be returning.
On Mother’s Day, I placed an online breakfast order an hour in advance. My husband went to pick it up, and they just let him stand there—waiting an additional 45 minutes—with no update, no explanation, nothing. Meanwhile, other customers were coming in and picking up their orders with no issue. It was like our order didn’t exist, and no one cared enough to say a word.
After nearly an hour and a half of wasted time, we finally told them to cancel it. They said we’d get a refund in 5–7 business days. That refund? Never came.
Reached out to the corporate office for help, no response.
Two weeks ago, we were finally able to get in touch with someone named Pete at the store, who said they’d mail us a check instead. Surprise: still nothing.
So not only did they completely ruin our morning on Mother’s Day, they’ve also stolen our money. No food, no refund, no accountability.
We were loyal customers. Not anymore
Update 6/9/2025: This entire experience has been nothing short of frustrating and unprofessional. My husband and I submitted every document requested five days ago, and we have received zero communication in return. On top of that, we were told weeks ago that a check had been sent — yet, we’ve received nothing.
Let me be absolutely clear: no service has been provided to us whatsoever. We’ve done our part, and then some, only to be completely ignored. It feels like we’re being misled and taken advantage of — as if the goal is to collect people’s hard-earned money without delivering anything in return.
The lack of transparency, accountability, and basic courtesy is infuriating. I will not be submitting anything through your website again — you already have everything you need. We deserve an immediate and honest update, and quite frankly, an apology. Considering you asked for our trust again & this is how...
Read moreCold Coffee at Bob Evans??!! And not the new one on the menu. We entered about an hour or so before close and were seated rather quickly; however, the waitress was rather soft spoken and forgot to mention that the hot coffee was out before pouring the cold cups of old coffee. We placed our order and proceeded to wait for about 30-45 minutes before any sort of bread or food would arrive. During that period of time, there were only two other families in the restaurant and we quickly noticed that neither family looked too happy with their orders and the one directly next to us were actively complaining about bad lettuce and bacon- the second family just left frowning in small conversation. Once both families had left, our bread arrived at our table which we assumed our food would be soon to follow. In reality, it took about 10 minutes after the bread was delivered for our food and appetizer to be delivered. The pancakes were fine; however, the alleged Sunshine Skillet and one of the Avocado omelets had a few issues. The inside of the omelet was cool along with the hash browns(which were still starch-white) and the Sunshine Skillet was missing the sausage and cheese. There were also a few issues with the Two cheese pot roast dip sandwich, which came with cold steamed broccoli and without the gravy dip and the appetizer chewy and cold. Overall, in thirty plus years of going to Bob Evans, this has been the first time I have ever gotten food that was just bad from the chain. We had the feeling that the manager just wanted us to leave as she had already closed out the cash register and refused to let us pay for at least the pancakes that were made correctly, which was a downside since we were also going to purchase a banana bread to go but decided to just drop the argument. Please know that we left the server a hefty tip and did not expect a fully...
