We booked a hotel through Expedia and we don't usually stay at Super 8's but this one said Super 8 by Wyndham so we thought it was going to be acceptable because we stay at Wyndham hotels a lot and have never had an issue. We booked that place because it had a soaker/jetted tub and we had been driving for 4 days and we were tired and sore and really wanted a hot soak before meeting up yesterday for a big family dinner. When we arrived in Middletown it was over 90 degrees. We went to check in and the lobby was extremely warm in there. The place looked extremely run down and like nothing has been changed since the 80’s. They didn’t even have a proper cart for us to transport our stuff inside, they had a small hand dolly. I wasn’t too thrilled but I figured I would check for bedbugs and as long as the place is clean we can live with it for one night. Our room didn’t have the A/C turned on when we got there and it was extremely warm. We put on the A/C and had to wait until the room cooled off before we could run our bath because the tub was in the same room as the bed. Didn’t find bedbugs. When it was finally cool enough to run the bath, there was NO hot water. Also the water was orange-ish and had black flecks in it probably from old pipes. We called the front desk and told them there is no hot water and the guy said they were having issues with it and it would be fixed soon. That wasn’t acceptable as we had to get ready for dinner! We talked to Expedia and they said the hotel had strict rules about refunds and they refused (probably because they have a lot of unhappy customers when they arrive at this dump). We talked to the manager and he said it would be fixed in 10 minutes. We said that’s not good enough, it will take a long time for the water to be hot enough to fill a huge tub and we should have been told that at check in. He apologized and kept saying it would be fixed soon. We were there another 15 minutes and there still was no hot water. We asked why were weren’t told at check in which was an hour prior, and he said because it was being fixed soon. He told Expedia that the hot water was only off for 10 minutes but this is a complete lie. We left and went to the Hampton Inn. We paid $184 for the Super 8 then we paid another $160 for a room at the Hampton Inn for the same day. The reason people book hotel rooms is to 1) rest and 2) get cleaned up. We couldn’t do the 2nd one. It’s extremely sub par and not a good reflection of Wyndham. We travel a lot and this is hands down the WORST hotel we have ever...
Read moreI stayed there several times for work. Homeless people have walked in , one night at 3 am some lady came banging and yelling at someone’s door across from mine then she came back around at 4 am to do it again. There is always long dark hair on towels and cloths. One time a room had bright pink nail polish spilled all over the floor. There is always something on the blankets like dried food or cigarette stains. Sometimes the air conditioning has worked in my room and sometimes not. One time the vent cover just fell off. I think breakfast is a muffin or chewy bar. I do think something should be done with the laundry. I also have had times where it looked like someone stomped on the towels then folded them up. I started to bring my own towels and cloths after that. The two positives I can say is I didn’t see any bedbugs and I stayed there several times in several rooms for work. The parking is easy. If you check in late there is a talk guy who never speaks or smiles. Ever. I almost forgot about the key cards. They don’t always work so I had to go to the desk a few times for new one then one time it didn’t work at all and the light on the door wasn’t on either so I think there was an electrical issue on the door . I was too tired to run back to the desk for the 100 time so I just didn’t lock it. I didn’t bring anything there except my work clothes anyways but that’s just another thing you...
Read moreI've stayed here several times over the years when visiting my niece and her family in Middletown. i like it because it's usually very quiet and in a quiet area, and a good value for a place where really all I'm going to do is sleep and shower. Breakfast is just juice and a muffin but that's fine based on the price, and there's a McDonald's right across the street that you can walk to. 90% of the time I get a room that is nice and everything works. I stopped here this time at both the beginning and end of a trip where I continued on to Kentucky. The first night my room was really good. On the way back, the room I initially was given had a broken, loudly rattling bathroom fan and the sheets had dried sand stuck to them and holes. I went back to the front desk immediately and told him about the sheets, and right away he gave me another room which was a good one. I'm not sure why some of the rooms are in bad condition, or why someone would put sheets like that on a bed and expect it to be ok with a guest. There were only a handful of guest here that night. They would get more business if they were consistently good rooms, and throw away those sheets with holes and sand! I would stay here again, but I always (with all hotels and motels) check everything first...
