My early experiences here included dozens of video games to the right when you walked in. To the left were a couple of dozen pool tables that were usually full. Of course, there was a full candlepin bowling alley with over twenty-five lanes.
At least a quarter of the people in there were to use the “men’s room’’, where the drug activity went on. It was a public secret, and it lasted forever. The pinball players were in on it and the pool players had to visit the bathroom often. Bowlers were oblivious.
Today, It is a great destination for families, birthday parties, groups, and anyone else. The pool tables are now modern games that the kids like. The center desk is two sided now and looks modern too.
Alleys are the same, but they are fine. There are also new private rooms for birthday parties, etc.
It is pricey for what used to be a reasonable outing, but kids love it and it is all on the up and up again. Huge plus is the location on Route 109 near Millis Center and easy to find, and locals love...
Read moreHad a great time candlepin bowling here for the first time last night - on Thanksgiving no less. We had nothing to do, and found out they were open (and had an awesome deal), so we made the drive up from Providence.
The guy working there was so kind and cheerful. He genuinely seemed happy to be there to give families/friends something fun to do together that evening, and I’m grateful for that. It feels like the kind of bowling allies I grew up going to, in a nostalgic, great way. Everything is well maintained - like a time capsule.
There are closer places to candlepin bowl for us, but I’d make the (45min) drive again to hang out here. Thanks for a fun evening, and making what I thought would be a pretty forgettable thanksgiving actually one I will...
