First of all my response and reaction were a result of how you guys handled my concern about the cross contamination issue , had you guys taken the time and listen to my concerns about the food safety issue and were more professional and took immediate corrective actions , i probably wouldn't call the health department , cause you guys ignored me and didnt care much about a serious health issue i had to reach out to the health department. Second its a shame that you guys been in business for 16 years still dont greet your customers , thank them for coming and asking if they find everything ok !!! let alone not listening to them when they raise a health safety issue !!! I think you guys lack the basics of running a business instead of every time i come by the store , i see you guys behind the counter doing nothing !!! What a great way to run a business !!! Third i my self have a food certification , worked , managed and owned businesses, so i have the eyes and the knowledge of the experts in the food business , when i see a food violations like the one your employee was doing, i had to say something and its my right and obligation to the public as well as consumer to raise food safery issue , as far the health inspector who agreed when i told her about the cross contamination and she suggests that it should 've been 2 separate meat grinders, one for the chicken or at least wash, rinse and sanitize the machine after grinding the chicken , and i was taken so seriously thats why she showed up the very next day , i dont understand how is it ok for you guys to grind chicken and beef, lamb in tbe same meat grinder ??? How is it a safe practice, the whole world know its cross contamination!! And a safety food violation . As far your inspection it was the first thing i checked when i left the store , and i found quite interesting facts about the violations your store had specially after my complaint ( 5 critical violations and 5 non critical ) to be exact , so please dont mislead the public and say you have no violations, by the way your inspection report is a public informations !!!! Read moreThe worst experience ever with my African husband today. So me and him went to the store with a receipt because he brought some meat and left one package there at the market. He went to the lady cashier and she said go to the manager. So the manager took his receipt. Because he took all the proof my husband had. He acted like he was going to find a resolution for the missing meat he left. So he ask the manager to replace or give his money back. Long story short another man. I'm assuming his son. Steps in said it's not the store responsibility to replace it. But it's funny because every American store I go too. They replace and give money back. My husband was patient and was not rude at all Untill they refused to find a solution to his purchased items. So my husband keep ranting on and on. Still he refused to solve the problem. Even though a worker said he did leave his meat there. All of the store owners were rude to the African women cashier. Yelling at her and was mad at her like it was her fault. I went off too! Because all stores should replace left items. But they refuse. This man was rude after I told my husband. He should stop shopping with Arabics because of this reason specifically. Yes they hire African descents. But they talk poorly about us and treat us rudely like they did my husband and the cashier. He also was mad because of my statement. But it's true some Arabics only care about Black people's money and have very little respect for us. My husband said he will not return. I'm happy because you don't treat people that way. Especially when the customers are predominately Black! He said all I do is know how to cuss and I'm consuming his air. I told him off. I'm here for my husband. I don't shop at your stores! He stated call the police after the manger took my husband's receipt. But the funny thing is this market sell bongs and most of them drink and have the nerve to judge me. After reading some of the harsh reviews, I thought it necessary to elaborate more with my experience. I've been shopping at Yasmin market since 2004! It is a family owned business and back then it was smaller. My first impression of the owner then and now remains the same, very kind with great since of humor! I'm extremely pleased with his business dealings because unlike other halal markets in town, he's reinvested in his market for the benefit of us customers. Other markets have the same old freezers, registers, space and/or products. He's modernized, expanded (with size, products and staff) and has kept the property safe for customers!
I am black American woman and I have never been disrespected nor been made to feel like a lower class person by the owner, his family or staff! I'm extremely surprised of reviews stating the owners are racists against blacks or refuse business, as the majority of their staff and customers are either black or African. Sadly, I believe a few people have a vendetta against this family because their statements do not match up with reality. Perhaps, some should take a step back and realize that this is a diverse business with diverse customers (we are in America) and everyone does not have the same mannerisms. Stop looking for bad in everything and look at the good because there's a lot of good going on at Yasmin.
