Modern Age District (MAD) — Attraction in Minneapolis

MAD & ReRep is a fabulous store full of beautiful, interesting, one-of-a-kind furniture and decorative pieces. Doug (the owner) finds amazing things and adds creative touches to some to give them a new lease on life. We have been looking for a mid-century-modern style cabinet for awhile, and went to MAD/ReRep to see one. Not only did we purchase the beautiful MCM piece from Doug (who is amazingly knowledgeable and helpful!), but we also ended up buying another cabinet w/ industrial legs that Doug added that was too beautiful to pass up, and a terrific desk lamp too. And Doug delivered the furniture to us--in two trips, that included a U-Haul rental (wow!). We can't recommend this gem of a store highly enough! Even if you aren't in the market for anything, it is worth going to see just for the cool finds in it. And if you are in the market for things, this is the place! Oh, and it is worth a visit for Buster as well, the cat who enjoys every customer who visits and only breaks lamps in his joy occasionally, we...

We are in Minneapolis, visiting our daughter and son in law, who bought a very cool house in Plymouth. As loving parents, we want to help them furnish their home with furniture they will cherish.

Repurpose Republic has the best stuff and the best prices in the city. I know, because we spent all day checking out consignment stores in every nick and corner of the Twin Cities. (They're certainly not identical twins!) The proprietor Doug is engaging and informative. He has an eye for a pieces that are architectural beauties. Yet, he can also turn that basement throw away into something that should be displayed in the Museum of Modern Art. Repurpose Republic is the kind of place you want to return to often, just to see what new beauty shows up on the showroom floor.

Unfortunately, Repurpose Republic was our first stop, and I was exhausted with all the wasted hours visiting other consignment stores. Save yourself some time and just "hit up" Repurpose Republic. ...

Doug and ReRep have been just what we wanted in selling my mother in law's high end Mid-Mod Broyhill Brazilia dining room set (table, chairs, hutch and cabinet and side cart). The pieces were in truly excellent condition and Doug and his crew moved it with the utmost care to his funky shop in NE Mpls without a scratch. He carefully cleaned the pieces making them look more beautiful than I'd ever seen them while preserving the original finish. I also really liked that he kept in touch with me; I appreciated knowing what was up, even when nothing was. I'd looked at a few other resellers and was unimpressed -they offered insanely low numbers for not only a buyout but for consignment.
