Very poor planning. We attended the Winter Solstice sound bath on 12/22/24 and were sadly disappointed at the lack of organization for this event. The Cedar oversold the space and set up too many chairs for an event that advertises lying on yoga mats. It's great to have some chairs for folks with limited mobility, but the entire middle of the venue was lined with folding chairs, leaving staff scrambling to clear room for eventgoers. I understand an open floor, first come/first served event. However, it didn't seem that the number of pre-sale tickets was considered in relation to the day of tickets sold. Additionally, there were no distinct lines between pre-purchased and day of ticket sales nor distinct lines for people ready to scan a QR code vs. collect tix at will call. The level of chaos at arrival created a very uncomfortable situation for those in our party and required 1/2 the sound bath to settle in and deregulate for many of us. We hope future similar events will adjust based on what was learned and observed at this first (?) sound bath event. The key issues were: Space utilization: Over-allocation of chairs conflicting with the yoga mat-based format Ticket processing: No clear separation between pre-sale and day-of purchases Capacity management: Potential overselling relative to comfortable floor space Note. the artists and music...
Read moreWhen I asked for parking advice, the guy said "I don't know, check the signs." There weren't any signs posted around the lot we parked in which is why I asked for advice in the first place. This isn't exactly my first time parking in Minneapolis; I know to check for signs around where I park. We had 5 minutes before the show was supposed to start so my friend and I were debating whether or not we should just risk leaving my car where it was when the same guy said we had plenty of time to find parking. I told him we came out to see one specific comedian and he told us that there were a few guys performing before the headliner and once again reassured us that we had plenty of time. So we spent the next 20 minutes looking for a parking spot with signs indicating that it was safe to park there for a couple hours. By the time we got back, the guy we had come to see was 20 minutes into his set and all the seats were taken. There were probably a couple dozen people standing along the back wall. I paid for two seats and ended up standing in the back the whole time. The silver lining to accidentally being so late is that we didn't have to stand around for as long as we would have otherwise, but either way there's no chance I'll be coming back. If you don't have space for X amount of people at a show, don't sell that...
Read moreWent there to see Walter Trout and Eric Gales with my dad. Place sold out. Which with those two I figured would happen. The show was great! I have now only been two times to this venue and each time was very nice. This time they had chairs down because the venue figured it would be an older crowd. The show was about 3 hours long. Both sharing very inspiring stories. Then jammed "Red House" together at the end. Also what is special about blues rock guys, is they will stick around to sign autographs at no charge. So I met and got the autograph of Eric Gales. My dad met Walter Trout and I saw and shook Bernard Allison's had again. Also saw Johnny Griparic and "Zig Zag". Which was pretty neat. So over all good show! Mens bathroom overflowed with water. But that wasn't the venues fault....
