Very poor planning. We attended the Winter Solstice sound bath on 12/22/24 and were sadly disappointed at the lack of organization for this event. The Cedar oversold the space and set up too many chairs for an event that advertises lying on yoga mats. It's great to have some chairs for folks with limited mobility, but the entire middle of the venue was lined with folding chairs, leaving staff scrambling to clear room for eventgoers. I understand an open floor, first come/first served event. However, it didn't seem that the number of pre-sale tickets was considered in relation to the day of tickets sold. Additionally, there were no distinct lines between pre-purchased and day of ticket sales nor distinct lines for people ready to scan a QR code vs. collect tix at will call. The level of chaos at arrival created a very uncomfortable situation for those in our party and required 1/2 the sound bath to settle in and deregulate for many of us. We hope future similar events will adjust based on what was learned and observed at this first (?) sound bath event. The key issues were: Space utilization: Over-allocation of chairs conflicting with the yoga mat-based format Ticket processing: No clear separation between pre-sale and day-of purchases Capacity management: Potential overselling relative to comfortable floor space Note. the artists and music...

When I asked for parking advice, the guy said "I don't know, check the signs." There weren't any signs posted around the lot we parked in which is why I asked for advice in the first place. This isn't exactly my first time parking in Minneapolis; I know to check for signs around where I park. We had 5 minutes before the show was supposed to start so my friend and I were debating whether or not we should just risk leaving my car where it was when the same guy said we had plenty of time to find parking. I told him we came out to see one specific comedian and he told us that there were a few guys performing before the headliner and once again reassured us that we had plenty of time. So we spent the next 20 minutes looking for a parking spot with signs indicating that it was safe to park there for a couple hours. By the time we got back, the guy we had come to see was 20 minutes into his set and all the seats were taken. There were probably a couple dozen people standing along the back wall. I paid for two seats and ended up standing in the back the whole time. The silver lining to accidentally being so late is that we didn't have to stand around for as long as we would have otherwise, but either way there's no chance I'll be coming back. If you don't have space for X amount of people at a show, don't sell that...

Went there to see Walter Trout and Eric Gales with my dad. Place sold out. Which with those two I figured would happen. The show was great! I have now only been two times to this venue and each time was very nice. This time they had chairs down because the venue figured it would be an older crowd. The show was about 3 hours long. Both sharing very inspiring stories. Then jammed "Red House" together at the end. Also what is special about blues rock guys, is they will stick around to sign autographs at no charge. So I met and got the autograph of Eric Gales. My dad met Walter Trout and I saw and shook Bernard Allison's had again. Also saw Johnny Griparic and "Zig Zag". Which was pretty neat. So over all good show! Mens bathroom overflowed with water. But that wasn't the venues fault....

Was lucky enough to do a photoshoot and interview of David Wilcox when he performed here recently. While I wouldn't have expected it, the acoustics here are amazing. If I'd looked carefully I would have noticed all the old sound panels around the room (it used to be a theatre I'm told). To put it in perspective, during his sound check David, (who can and did quite literally tell the person at the sound board exactly what frequency he was hearing that needed adjustment), had them completely cut the reverb because the room acoustics sounded so naturally perfect to him. It's definitely on the edge of a sketchy neighborhood, but look around more closely and you'll see fantastic community services and projects going on including The Cedar itself. So please don't let that dissuade you from this gem.

Intimate venue, not a bad seat in the place and you can stand in the back if you want. Parking is metered side street with 2-hr max so they stamp your hand to feed the meter between artists. The Mpls parking app wasn't acknowledging my friend's or my parking space otherwise I think you should be able to add time/money on the app. Saw William Wild & Andrew Belle. Wild's acoustic sound was incredible. Worth going just for that. My friend and I had a hard time with the incredibly loud bass, reverberation, and bright flashing lights in such a small space during Belle's performance, but others didn't seem to mind so I say check it out yourself. :) Ticket was only $25 and beverages and snacks were for sale. Staff welcoming and friendly!

I came here to see a band in the middle of winter, until then I had never heard of this place before so didn’t know what to expect. Tickets for the show were inexpensive so that was a great start. Getting to the theatre, I was loving the big sign they have calling it out. Parking across the street in the garage was easy (but not free). Inside the stage is fairly small, although I was in at the last second I was really close to the stage. They had a giant coat rack for everyone’s coat in the corner which speaks about the size of this place. The folks serving drinks were really cool and friendly, smile from ear to ear. Overall this place is really pleasant and I know to expect a good time if I find myself here again.
