I would highly recommend having your wedding somewhere else. We held our wedding here September 7th although it seemed straight forward, I assure you it is not. After having problems with check-in which was supposed to be included in our bill and final payment and was not, so extra money came out of our pocket we were not expecting, the rooms that were supposed to be blocked for us they were not so our guests were pretty far down from us, not only that but the "bridal sweet" was a complete joke. I cut my finger on one of our guest doors due to trim being broken. At 2am there were people next to us being so loud they woke up out 2 year old daughter. Before the check in date we made sure with the coordinator, that we had meet all the requirements and that the room was included in our final bill and that was the last we had to pay. We'll that was not the case. Day of the wedding our coffee we asked for and paid extra for was in a public hallway were not only the wedding party could access but anyone who strolled by could get coffee at our expense. We were under the impression that everything was paid for checked and double checked even triple checked and we were assured that all expenses were taken care of. Fast forward too two weeks after the wedding, my wife checked her account and noticed that Courtyard Mariot tried to withdraw almost $350 from her account. Within a drop of a dime I called the coordinator to discuss this issue. She said we did not meet the requirements for food and beverage. I promptly disagree in which she argued with me before even checking herself. My wife pulled up our contract and the contract said we met all requirements. The coordinator then checked the computer and realized she made a mistake and blamed it on a computer error. After that was taken care of the coordinator emailed us stating that we used 2 gallons of coffee and they had to put out extra French toast. My wife and I looked at each other and disagreed and said we never approved of anything extra to be put out since there were not that may guests at our wedding, evenknow we paid for the extra guest that we did not have to meet their requirements. Anyway after disputing this they must have not cared because fast forward to today's date they made another withdrawal from my wife's account for $34 and some change without permission and said it was for the coffee and French toast. So I called her back and said we did not approve of any extra food or beverage and did not approve of the withdraw it was all done without our permission. The coordinator said they didn't need the permission because it was in the contract. My wife and I promptly looked over the contract again and there was nothing of the sort in there. We also read the statement from the contract that said any discrepancies would be taken care of one week after the date of the event. I don't know if Cortyard is strapped for money or they were just trying to scam us out of money but this was a headache and ridiculous I highly recommend going...
Read moreWe were greeted upon checkin by a less than enthused front desk receptionist. She was mumbling to her ‘manager’ about not having the room type we requested on the pet floor & asked if we would take a different room type. I kindly explained that my dog is not a pet, he is a service dog (he was fully harnessed & labeled upon checkin) & It is written explicitly into the Americans With Disabilities Act that you cannot segregate disabled individuals into “pet only” rooms/ floors, so no, I’ll take the room I paid for. As a handler who faces access issues on the daily I came prepared with a printed list of Minnesota & federal laws regarding assistance dogs and their accommodations, specifically highlighting the hotel section, which the receptionist refused to even look at.
We got to our room and it was clean and made up nice but it was hot and muggy so we turned the air as low as it would go, which was 65°. We left and walked around the town waiting for the room to cool. We get back to the room & it was 3° warmer than when we left. I called maintenance & they brushed it off saying it needed time to acclimate & he brought me a housekeeping fan. We tossed and turned all night- sweating. The next day we spent the entire day on the town hoping that the room would be cool when we get back but we were greeted by air that was warmer than the hallways, chilling at 78° when the thermostat was set to 65°. I called maintenance again. He told me that the thermostat is motion detected and stays off until people are back into the room, which explained why we were so miserable. They finally got the thermostat to hold a steady temperature, but after two miserably hot days it didn’t make a difference.
The parking ramp is outrageously priced, and you can only pay with card at the ramp. I didn’t have a card so they up charged me the largest fee so I could pay in cash, even though my car never left the ramp. The WiFi is horribly slow & Netflix was buffering every two seconds despite being the only thing using Wifi. They have a wifi upgrade of course for $5 a day though. The pool is hilariously small, with no disability access either. They have no complimentary breakfast. They have weddings & allow giant gatherings in the lobby. Every time I walked in or out I had to go through a sea of screaming, loud, & rowdy people that continued late into the night. The key cards barely work. I had to flip BOTH of my cards and rotate them several times to be let in the lobby door & my room door. They were not next to any electronics to wipe them either. There was a constant smell of marijuana in the hallways/ elevators, & you have to push the buttons several times in the elevators to get them to light up.
My whole experience has been a joke, seeing as this is supposed to be a nicer hotel. I was reluctant to stay here in the first place, & I definitely won’t be back. I’ve had super 8’s treat me better...
Read moreI stayed at the Courtyard Marriott for two nights. I and my sister were walking in the lobby on our way up to the room around 10:30-11pm on 4/3.
My sister and I both had glass water bottles and she dropped hers accidentally and it shattered. I and my sister spent the next twenty minutes picking up glass shards and trying to clean up the mess.
There was a desk attendant that was present, but he did nothing to try and help and my sister had to literally ask him for trashcan so that we could dispose of the glass shards. We then had to ask where we could get napkins or paper towels to clean the water. While we were cleaning, another individual that was hotel staff appeared at the desk and said nothing nor offered any help.
In addition to this fiasco, when I checked in I was specifically asked if I would like my room cleaned. I said yes. My sister and I returned to our room for about 30 minutes during the morning of 4/3 and saw that the cleaning cart had not reached our room. The maid saw us come and leave and our room was not cleaned nor were our linens and towels replaced.
Because of this following the glass breaking and us cleaning it up in the lobby we had to call the receptionist to request towels. This took 2+ attempts and when I finally did reach someone at the front desk to ask for towels and a bottle opener for our san Pellegrino, I was questioned as to why I needed the bottle opener and then the staff person begrudgingly agreed to bring towels.
When the towels finally arrived the staff person did not greet me but instead said: I had to borrow this bottle opener from the bar so don't lose it. Rather than deal with the possibility of that situation I asked if he could wait and I would open it and give it right back to him so there would be no further issues. He was at the room for a total of three minutes tops, when I walked back to return the bottle opener to him he brusquely walked away without saying anything.
This was the WORST possible hotel experience and customer service experience I have ever had. I will be returning to Minneapolis in a couple of weeks, but I certainly will not be staying at this...
