I'm a student at UMN. After studying at Wilson Library next door in the evenings, I come to this restaurant for dinner. I've eaten here several times, and overall, I find it just average. 1. The service is extremely slow, especially for Asian or white customers and other non-Muslim groups. On multiple occasions, I've waited over half an hour before going to the front desk to inquire. I was told they hadn't even started preparing my order yet, and they didn't seem to care. If I hadn't asked, I doubt they would have served me at all. The front desk staff are rude, and there are no consistent servers. 2. The environment is mediocre. Tables are often left uncleaned with trash on them, and there are various unsavory characters hanging around. 3. The portions are generous and extremely affordable—this is the biggest advantage, making it very budget-friendly for students.

If you want someone who doesn’t know how to operate a cash register, doesn’t know how to tell the guys in the back that all you want is a burrito, then tries to charge your card twice and then asks for your cash back and also won’t provide you with a receipt after trying to rip you off... then this is the place to waste money on Now that I have my food I am very pleased to say that sharp, broken plastic material is cooked into my burrito as well.

The chicken and sauce is amazing, but the service is slow. Nice location right in the heart of Cedar-Riverside and adjacent to the UMN campus. I recommend it to any UMN students who want some good, authentic East African food. Make sure to try the Rice with Chicken Kutalayti, and get a half portion per person as that is plenty.

One of the best Somali/East African restaurants in town. Where it's lacking in service it overcompensate for in food. The food part is exactly the reason to visit West Bank Diner. Get their rice and meat plates. And if you are really really hungry then order the "Sport" plate. It's a big (a huge) plate of rice or spaghetti topped with three types of meats of your choosing. The Sport plate is meant for two people but could easily feed three hungry ppl. Make sure to order thier home made hot sauce (bis-bas sauce). Make sure to order the goat meat if they are still serving it. They run out of goat meat fast because goat meat is the G.O.A.T in Somali cuisine. 🤣 The meals come with a drink either caned drinks or jucies, I recommend getting the Mango juice. The meals also come with bananas, you know like 🍌, and the banana is meant to eaten with the rice and meat and I highly recommend trying it (this may change the way you eat banana again, in a...

My experience at this restaurant was disappointing. Despite placing an order over the phone 30 minutes in advance and being assured that it would be ready on arrival, I had to wait for 40 minutes while the cashier served other customers who seemed to be prioritized, even though they had ordered on the spot. I politely reminded the cashier of my order several times, but he kept insisting that it would be ready in two minutes. To make matters worse, the customers he was serving before me were people he knew personally. I eventually had to leave without my order as I was already late for work. Overall, the poor customer service and wasted time left me...
