This was my first time trying this sort of experience. We did it with a group of eight in the Island Escape room. The room was a bit small for all of us but we made it work. The theme of this place is to "breakout" of the room by solving a series of clues that unlocks different locks and eventually gets you out of the room in one hour. The clues felt random and not sequential. I felt they could have been better at making them interconnect. The decor of the room felt low budget, kind of reminding me of a child's play area. I felt like I would have had more fun if I was a teenager in this kind of setting. But being a very grown up adult, it felt weird playing in this type of scenario.

Great experience! The difficulty level of the rooms are a great mix for both experienced escape room goers and newbies. The rooms were well maintained and all locks functioned well. Anytime the lock didn’t work was either operator error or us not being observant enough. Our game-master was very engaging and added to the already excellent experience. My only feedback would be to add some reflective markings for the orientation of the number locks in some of the darker rooms. I had a little trouble getting oriented on some of the locks, so someone with vision issues may have more trouble.

What a blast! Our group of 4 people did the Museum Heist, an art themed break out of the room experience. I've tried other escape rooms (not in the twin cities) and so far this is one of the best. Max, our host, explained the process in a very friendly way and have us great hints when we ended up getting stumped, without giving out the clue directly. We didn't make it out in time, sadly, but we had so much fun we didn't actually care that much! The room itself was nicely furnished and each clue made sense in the grand scheme of the room. We'll definitely come back for the Island Escape!

I have done 4 of these rooms now to try to give it a fair shot, but unfortunately, these escape rooms lack enthusiastic and attentive game masters, which had led to us solving a clue, and sitting there thinking we were not on the right track because nothing was happening. In reality, they had just not paid attention when we were doing our required part, and they missed the manual trigger they needed to do, costing us much frustration. There is a consistent issue with the blacklights working the way they were intended. Some of the puzzles are based on colors, but in a pitch black room, we were expected to decipher the color we saw as "yellow" when it was way more neon green with a dim black light. They said they knew the color was a flaw, and this most recent time, they said they can't keep replacing the batteries for the black lights. There are other times when the UV ink had been rubbed off considerably, making it very difficult to read things. Red herrings are one thing, but there are other puzzles that employees even pointed out were poorly thought through and hard, not because they were clever, but simply because they weren't thought through very well. I also personally don't like puzzles where you are given a set of numbers, and you have no other clues, so you have to just waste time guessing every combo, but that's a personal preference. Most of the experience is good, but the parts that are bad totally ruined the rest of it for us. We wanted to finish them all, but at this point, the experiences we have had don't justify the price if two we pay extra...

My best friend of 29 years was visiting from out of town and we wanted to do an escape room. We wanted a private room, though, so we didn't have to rely on others, only our own intellect.

Breakout Games did not disappoint. Initially we did "The Kidnapping." Our Game Master, Maddie (I hope that's the correct spelling) was phenomenal. Maddie set clear expectations at the start and was so helpful when we asked for hints or if we were in the right direction. We didn't solve it, but only by just a couple of minutes.

We had such a great time that we decided to do a round 2 on a spur of the moment. We were so excited that a Breakout Games employee was willing to run another game for us.

Our second room was "Mystery Mansion." Once again, our Game Master, this time it was Kate, was equally as phenomenal. Kate let us loose in the mansion. And with her help on just a few clues, we were able to find the heirloom and escape.

The rooms were very immersive. You definitely have to think outside the box, while not going too far out of the box that you don't see the forest for the trees. Each of the experiences were unique, with no overlap of effects or clue types. We both had a blast and would highly recommend. And both employees, Maddie (I really hope I'm spelling that correctly) and Kate were phenomenal Game Masters. They know their assignments and without a doubt provided an afternoon of immense enjoyment for two best friends. Thank you both!! And thank you...

This was my first ever experience with an escape room. I was a little nervous going in, as 2 people from our 4 member group had already been to 2 other escape room experiences. I worried the game would be so hard, I wouldn't catch on and be able to contribute. Also the idea of being locked in a small room is sorta scary.

But this was as good of a first time experience you could hope for. Max was our host and greeted us outside the room to explain how it works, and answer any questions we had. He gave us some good notes like "nothing will need to be forced" (good to know so you don't break anything). He then lead us into the room and explained how the timing and set up goes. We did the museum heist.

Throughout the game, I felt challenged, but never frustrated. The clues weren't so obvious the game was boring, but also weren't too hard where I wanted to quit. I'm glad you have the option to ask for clues, because when you feel stumped and are running out of time, it gives you a chance to get further. Max was available at all times to give us a clue as soon as we asked for it - no time was wasted.

The room was clean and well planned out, and didn't feel claustrophobic with 4 people. In the end, we didn't finish, but we had so much fun, we all agreed we want to go back asap. The price definitely feels worth it for a unique experience you can't get...
