My teenage daughter and I went to Slumberland today to look for an occasional chair. I had been in the store a few evenings prior, and a salesperson by the name of Carol had asked me if I needed help, though I was just looking then. So today when I was in the store, I asked for Carol as a courtesy for her checking on me the other evening. My daughter and I had already picked out the chair, but Carol wrote up the order and completed the sale for us. The chair would be in in a couple of days, and we were just taking part in some light conversation to end the encounter when Carol veered off into political statements and began insulting people with belief systems similar to my own. When I told her that I was one of "those people", she seemed surprised but didn't apologize. I was so livid that I just walked out.
Feeling angry that I had just given a commission to someone who ended up insulting me, I called the store and asked to cancel my order. Brandon was the manager on duty and listened to my concern, was very apologetic that a customer would be subjected to political talk when simply out shopping for a chair, apologized for the occurrence, and worked with me to keep my order while not having attribute that order to such an insulting salesperson. He was very kind and professional, and his handling of the matter was really the only reason I kept my order.
We need to get back to some kind of normalcy in this country, where a person doesn't have to be politically bombarded when just carrying out daily tasks. People are exhausted with this kind of thing! Read moreMy husband and I wandered into Slumberland one day because we needed a new mattress and were shopping around for the right one. We checked out the clearance center but everything was pretty expensive and instead, found a super nice pillow top mattress in the regular section in our price range. Dayton helped us and gave us pillows and instructions on how to properly test out the mattresses to see if they would work for us. He was really friendly and the whole process was very quick and painless. A couple of days before the delivery, we got a postcard in the mail from him, thanking us for our business and I honestly thought that was incredibly sweet. Most furniture stores are crooks but this one actually made me feel like they thought of us as people rather than cash cows. The day of the delivery arrived and we were told that they would be here between 11:30-12 but by 1:30 they still hadn't arrived so I called and the woman at the warehouse was incredibly apologetic and sent a separate team to go pick up the mattress from that truck and then drive it to our house. The delivery guys were super quick and efficient, they removed our old mattress and boxspring and set up the new ones within 5 minutes and were also really apologetic and sweet. Read moreOverall very bad experience with slumberland I told the sales lady when I was buying furniture for my new apartment that I only had a recliner and that's it she said ok and we picked out Furnature. I picked out a couple couches, a dinning room set, and a full bedroom set. I asked the sales lady if everything was included in the bedroom set she said it was. I didn't find out until the Furnature was delivered that the mattress wasn't included, so I had to order a mattress that took another 2 weeks for them to deliver that, and bedroom set I picked out looked nice but it was all fiberboard and the under storage bed frame I picked out broke within 3 months. Even though I bought the 5 year Furnature care plan they said that plan wouldn't cover the bed frame but luckily the manufacturer warranty would. I had enough with this bed frame so I decided to ask if I could return it after a couple days they decided they would but only for in store credit I agreed then I asked if they could pick it up the lady on the phone said they would have to take 80 out of the in store credit I said fine just come get it, she then said she would have to call me back to see when they could schedule a date and time to pick it up and 3 days later and no call and I keep getting the run around when...
