I frequently visit the Southgate Mall and wanted to share some feedback regarding the security. There seems to be only one unarmed guard on duty each day, which feels insufficient for a mall of this size. Additionally, I noticed the woman who appears to be the security manager spending a significant amount of time engaging in non-work-related activities. She was often seen walking around holding hands with a little girl, chatting with kiosk workers, watching videos on her phone, or relaxing in the massage chairs. While I understand the importance of being approachable, this behavior raises questions about professionalism and the ability to respond effectively in case of an emergency. I believe the mall would benefit from having more security personnel on duty and ensuring that the team remains focused and vigilant while on shift. A stronger security presence would not only make visitors feel safer but also help maintain a more professional environment. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as I truly want Southgate Mall to be a safe and enjoyable place for everyone.
Update 3/14/25
This is my second review regarding security concerns at Southgate Mall. After my previous feedback, I hoped to see some improvements, but unfortunately, the issues remain the same.
Once again, I noticed that there is still only one unarmed guard on duty, which feels inadequate for a mall of this size. Additionally, Iâve now captured a photo showing what appears to be the security manager walking around with the same little girl instead of actively monitoring the premises. While I understand that staff may have personal obligations, security should be a top priorityâespecially in a public space like this.
Beyond this, I continue to see the same concerning behavior: extended conversations with kiosk workers, phone usage, and time spent relaxing rather than actively patrolling. A strong security presence isnât just about responding to incidents but also about deterrence, and right now, I donât believe Southgate Mallâs current security approach is providing that reassurance.
I sincerely hope mall management takes this feedback seriously and makes necessary improvements. A more professional and attentive security team would make a significant difference in ensuring that visitors feel safe and that the mall maintains a secure and welcoming...
Read moreSafety hazard remains ignored. There are multiple open complaints now with the State of Montana. My eyes were burned by chemicals at a business in this mall, and no member of management at the business or Tim Winger the Manager of Southgate Mall have taken any action.
The matter is being reviewed by the State, and I fully anticipate they will FORCE the Mall Management and/or the Management of the business to finally take action regarding a safety hazard I reported January 15th of this year.
In addition to being injured, I also had my hair burned nearly off my head due to the severe negligence of a salon worker at River City Hair Studio. The employee spilled chemicals into my eyes, destroyed my hair, laughed in my face about it, charged me full price, and until now has gotten away with it. The employee is Julia Meeks, and she has a personal relationship with the Manager of River City Hair Studio (Diana) outside of work; which is why I believe the Manager has sacrificed her own integrity and dignity in order to rally behind this criminally negligent employee.
The Manager of the salon, Diana, also called me at home after learning that I had reported my injury and abusive treatment to the State of Montana, and had a hysterical meltdown that can only be likened to that of someone with either a serious mental disorder or substance abuse issue. Truly horrifying and inappropriate in any circumstance, but considering I am a victim of criminal negligence and stand in a VERY good position to file a tort lawsuit against both the salon and the mall for refusing to remedy the situation in any way, even to refund my money for the incident or even promise to correct the safety issue for the well-being of all future customers? It was nothing short of a fool's errand. A completely fruitless one because I am highly educated, have a clean record, documentation of what happened, witnesses, etc. and I have no reason on earth to bow down to bullying from a beligerent salon manager that can't write or speak as if she has any education of her own. She truly, truly, should not be running a business. And the Manager of Southgate Mall has a responsibility to the public to ensure safety where individual business owners and managers fail so obviously and...
Read moreOwners please correct this immediately Ive been attending the southgate mall all the way from silverbow county for the past half year, everytime it seems to never fail, but the shoe cleaning business stand is ALWAYS harassing me and my family anytime im walking by! More than once. I cant get from one point end of the mall without being intercepted by one of their âemployeesâ who deliberately tried to sell me their services of scrubbing shoes. All the while yelling sometimes, how my wife ir my shoes are dirty and we domt care for them. I cant ever say or decline no without consistentcy of being over talked and rudely demanded for their services. I ALWAYS have to yell or demand a NO before im met with smudge rude looks, even sometimes enough to hear disrespectful slurrs murmurred as im walking g away IN FRONT OF MY KIDS. Ive seen alot of druggies/drug dealers from growing up in poverty through my childhood and these âthugsâ act just as them. Ive seen some teenagers Pure Pressured into their services and once the employees recieved their payment they all closed down shop and headed straight to the public restrooms More than likely todo Drugs! Please owner of the southgate mall dont taint what hardworking civilians enjoy spending their money/family time on by allowing a business as harrassing and disrespectful as this one to blockade peoples joy of being there without the thought of being met with all of ive explained in my review. Drive them out please. Refuse that business. Its a very cheap gig to begin with and nobody wants to be pure pressured or harrassed to pay $5-10 to have their shoes...
