I have been going for a few years now and the offerings and crowd has become larger and more diverse over time. There is a good variety of fruit and vegetables supplied by a couple of nearby farms. Vendors abound including spice purveyors, barrels of pickles, smoked meats, artisan cheeses, the Montclair Bread Company, etc. They sometimes have a Mexican taco food truck serving savory pulled pork, chicken and veggie versions. The animal shelter down the street usually sets up adoption events on the nearby lawn. And Market organizers will feature a local food business to offer samples for visitors to taste. I am biased toward loving all farmers markets but some are a little sad in terms of variety and some are a little fancy for me (SF Ferry Building Market is both fab and too fancy). But this one hits a lot of spots for me in terms of local participation, great vendors, variety, and competitive pricing. This one has a nice feel, diversity in vendors and patrons, and everything you need to make a meal, from produce, to bakeries, to meat and cheese. Its mostly (not all) a bunch of full time traders scalping people. The prices for produce of often dubious quality and vintage are higher than Whole Foods. At least Whole Foods pays Montclair property taxes, wondering what these RIP OFF merchants pay for their stands.
