09/2024 So it is now 09/2024, exactly a week and a year since i wrote the last review about this place.
And do I have an update that is different from the previous one? Actually slightly -- they ended up switching the managers like twice, and now there is a cockroach infestation in the women's locker room, and the pool area.
I have attached additional photos of the cockroaches and all onto the yelp as well for review. The bathroom stalls are more broken, with more toilet paper, blood, and urine everywhere. They have not yet hired female staff to help out and the male staff does not go periodically to check the status (and it would go weeks without maintenance).
Still does not refill the paper towels, clean the trash off the floor, clean the sauna or steam room at all. and at some point all the pool water was green?
Honestly truly, disappointing. Not a 24-hour fitness I would recommend anyone.
All the stuff I have otherwise mentioned in 2023 still holds true today. LOL which is really - truly, sad. 09/2023 To start off - since I returned to this gym post pandemic (took a 3 year or so pause?) it have been running down hill
bathroom - always dirty, overfilled with trash either on the toilet seat, the tampon/pad trash, or all over the floor. Explosive poop diarrhea fecal subtances seems to always find its way to the end of the seat on the toilet. Shower - always have the same stains. I have actually went and spoke to the manager about this issue not once not twice but probably a few times. He insisted that they are now addressing the problem but time after time I always find the same stains - brown dry and disgusting. At times there would be womenâs diaper hanging over the shower head, a whole large clump of hair clogging the exit where water goes, or really weird strange strong vaginal smell coming from the shower making me want to gag? The water fountain- only 1 out of the 4 works? 2 on the top floor been broken since I been here. And one on the bottom, itâs pretty gross and I donât know when was the last time they cleaned it. Unkept - hand sanitizer station are often empty, the cleaning bottles to clean equipments are often - empty, the soap in shower are often also, empty. I included a film of how over the summarized one hour span how many people attempt in trying to clean their equipment with the empty bottle and empty hand sanitizer station. The staff are all gathered in the front (I saw probably 4 of them?) nobody rounds or checkes. Trash are often overflown, and AC is often broken (at least once a week if not once every other week?) Lack of choices when it comes to personal trainers - thereâs only 1 personal trainer here just makes it hard to make appointments or have choices to pick from. 3 years ago when I was here, there were about 4 or so trainers to say the least. Itâs the least of their problems but I thought to address it here. Professionalism- when my personal trainer left 24 fitness nobody notified me of this change. I had to find out by trying to reach out to my personal trainer and him telling me he had quit. When I called the gym the staff had told me that he did indeed left but they didnât realize nobody had notified me? I asked for a refund as my month I havenât used any, in apologize they told me that I was still gifted the rest of the 4 session despite the refund as long as I do it with the remaining PT of this gym. I said fine- only to find out from the PT that it didnât count? So now theyâre going back on what they said too? Honestly Iâm not sure where the membership curtesy lies or the respect for individuals here. Iâm honestly really disappointed in how they handled everything from management to staff.
I been not wanting to leave review here because I been waiting and hoping theyâd fix the problem but I have yet to see the fix. Itâs...
Read moreThe Monterey Park 24 HR Fitness gym has restored and changed my life drastically. I was recommended by a friend to 24 HR Fitness. I wanted to have everything under one roof including a trainer. It was open 24 hours around the clock. I was ordered by my primary care doctor to join a gym after total hip replacement surgery in December 2024. I have already had four reconstructive bone surgeries on my right wrist, four abdominal surgeries, four reconstructive bone surgeries on my right ankle, and two reconstructive bone surgeries on my left wrist after many accidents. During my stay for the hip surgery my surgeon asked a cardiologist to examine my heart. I heard the heart doctor tell me I had a perfect heart. I shrieked with joy as I told him I did have damage and abnormal heartbeat from rheumatic fever when I was five. He was amazed and yelled loudly, "Praise the Lord!" The doctors were amazed when my heart was suddenly healed from all damage, and I had no abnormal heartbeat! I saw the scar tissue disappear mysteriously! I cried tears of joy for one whole day in my hospital bed. I amazed the doctors with a very speedy recovery and got out early. I did a jumping jack three months later at the LA Galaxy Stadium when I was delivering the ball to the mascot before the game. The sales rep who signed me up at the gym was stunned when I showed him the pictures. He was asking me if could climb the stairs. I said yes and four flights more. I told him about my metal hip. He connected me with a trainer. I was so happy to be in that gym with my arms and legs restored and I could walk normal. I met the only rehabilitation trainer they have there. His name is Sergio Islas. He has the highest degree and then went on to study on his own taking online classes. He is the highest trained trainer I ever met. He wrote my program and oversaw every detail of my workouts. He showed me how use the machines properly and to do the proper form and number of reps and to rest between sets. He invited me to come to his senior fit class which he teaches three days a week. I loved it and did well. He told me to go to the yoga class. Now I am preparing for the Senior Olympics in power walking and fitness this summer. I would recommend the Monterey Park 24 HR Fitness gym to all seniors because they have the only rehab trainer who can handle all disabilities and injuries like no other trainer can! His knowledge, experience, kindness, humility, respectful manner and patience cannot be found in any other place. The staff there behind the counter are so kind, courteous, and respectful also. They have another trainer named Bill who has a degree in kinesiology and does body building. He also is very kind, caring, and respectful. His expertise is second to none. He is in very good shape himself. They now have all brand-new equipment, paint, and are installing a state-of-the-art recovery room, private training room with touch screen machines and state of the art machines for any and all workouts and programs. They have the best, most caring kind teachers for all their classes. Teachers are highly trained and have inspired me to go beyond what I thought I could do. The grand reopening after the remodeling will take place on May 3 from 9am to noon. There will be raffles, and demos and promotions. The staff will answer all your questions. Come early because there will be a big crowd. All seniors can keep their muscles and improve their flexibility, endurance, and strength. Every senior should a trainer and a program to follow. Who knows what can happen then? Every 24 HR Fitness gym will give you a free 30-minute free training session. You can get a 30-day program when you sign up with an individual trainer. Give it try!! You will have a new life...
Read more8/1/25 Update 24 Hours Fitness in Monterey Park is known to its members as an Anything-goes club due to very poor management. If I could rate this club with a zero star for my Google review, I would.
Despite my 1-star Goggle reviews, no one from the club followed up and no improvements can be seen. I scheduled an appointment directly with its Club Manager, Robert, to go over my Google review I posted in May so that we have a dialogue. This way, I could hear his plan to improve customer services.
He did not show up for the appointment. He did not leave a message with his staff about his no-show. I asked him 2 month later about his no-show. He did not apologize and gave me a lame excuse that he was about to go on vacation before our scheduled meeting. This is unprofessional and futher demonstrates he is not serious about customer satisfaction or club improvements. For more details, refer to my review in May this year.
7/14/25 Update This 5-star review ONLY applies to two dedicated employees, Sergio and Daniel, at the Monterey Park 24 Hour Fitness facility. The rest of the club remains to be 1-star rating (seemy prior reviews below for more details).
Sergio is my trainer for over 5 years. He cares about well being of his clients. He tailors exercises to support my fitness goals and whenever I need special attention to specific muscle groups. He is very knowledgeable in fitness. He cares about the club and often goes out of his way to help members feel heard and supported, as well as providing a safe and more conducive environment to exercise. Sergio is the only reason I go to this club.
Daniel provides front desk and member support. He stands out because he takes good care of the club. He regularly cleans and makes sure the supplies are available for members to use. He listens to members' feedback and does what he can to help promptly. He does above and beyond. He makes me feel welcome to use the facility.
Kduos to Sergio and Daniel! You should be recognized for your outstanding commitment to the club by your leadership now and often!
May 2025 If it is not the remodeling of the 24Hours Fitness at Monterey Park, I will continue to give the lowest rating (0 star if I could) for this gym because of continuously poor management. The remodeled gym offers a dedicated room for members who are willing to pay more for extra privacy, comfort and exclusive use of equipments in this room. It is a huge disappointment because the expectations have not been met at all. Case in point, the air conditioning which is a separate unit does not kick in until 9:45 am. This room is warm before that. Imagine the summer heat! I can't imagine it would take huge effort or time for the management to reset the air conditioning start-time to 6 am for this room. This room has not been locked down since the gym reopened over 4 weeks ago. When other members, who have not paid extra, are using equipments, machines and weights in this unlocked room, where are the benefits of paying extra fees for exclusive access? No corrective measures have been taken when members don't follow the gym rules in this room, such as slamming weights or taking videos, which I have witnessed. The management is nowhere to be found even at 10 am to report the violations. There is no air conditioning in the group exercise room in the morning. The fans are filthy especially after the remodeling. This has been an ongoing health hazard especially for the seniors. I can go on and on about issues impacting members. Until the management starts improving the gym environment and enforcing the rules, this gym will continue to hugely under-deliver from the member...
