This isn’t a review but more of a complaint about the parking lot situation here. Parking is a nightmare. At every intersection in the lot you’re met with drivers who don’t stop at the designated stop signs and overrule your right of way. I’ve almost been hit twice by cars that bypassed my right of way as a walking pedestrian while trying to get to stores here. So many stop signs that people don’t pay any attention to also. One happened near the back entrance next to Gamestop where they have that stop sign right when they enter from that back street. I was crossing and the car totally zoomed past me right in front of my face. My toes were inches away from being smashed to pieces. I hollered and the guy say he didn’t see me. Oh really? =_= Then another time a car zooms last me as I’m feet in the blue crosswalk in right of Ralph’s! If I wasn’t paying attention or on my phone I could have been hit. Good thing I assumed he wouldn’t stop judging by his speed and stopped in my tracks as he zooms past me. He was so close that I was only one step away from being hit. My belief is that the bad infrastructure and system that this plaza established encourages these bad driving habits. If they had more speed bumps of other safety measures then i think that drivers would drive more safe and cautiously around pedestrians. There is a small speed bump on the right of Ralph’s near its entrance from Riggin Street but it’s not even noticeable. Drivers don’t blink an eye to that speed bump cuz it’s so tiny so they never slow down which is quite dangerous. I believe that whoever created the parking infrastructure, design, and layout sorely failed. They’ve encouraged bad driving habits where cars do what they want. **To summarize: Crosswalks in front of stores should be more protected with higher/bigger speed bumps, brighter paint to signal a crosswalk, and a sign that clearly states pedestrian crossing. Maybe even put up lights on the crosswalk for goodness sakes. Pedestrians shouldn’t feel like we are entering the crosshairs of cars and war to get to our...

Read moreThis plaza is THE historic, iconic shopping center of Monterey Park. Some stores may be revolving but some staples such as IHOP, Big 5, Ralphs, and Rite Aid bring all the necessities of food and shopping together. Having the rarity of a Boston Market makes the center even more appealing. Some of my favorites include a few rarities like Fashion Q (now Rhapsodeille), Final Choice, and Thai House that cannot be found in newly remodeled upscale malls.
This plaza is popular for a variety of reasons, including a wide range of offerings, convenient location - right off the 60 freeway, and next to ELAC - as well as meeting daily needs of the community.
